Groundbreakings
1. The Gila River Indian Community held a groundbreaking May 19 for its 19.4-mile Reclaimed Water Pipeline Project. The two-phase project will move A+ reclaimed water GRIC has under its Central Arizona Project agreements with the cities of Mesa and Chandler.
2. The Gadsden Company recently broke ground on The Bautista, a $110M, 256-unit/16.5KSF retail mixed-use apartment development in Tucson’s Mercado District. Completion is expected in 2025.
3. Christ’s Church of the Valley has broken ground on its latest campus, located on 16 acres in Queen Creek. Construction is expected to finish in spring 2024.
Progress Reports
4. Banco Inbursa and Pearlmark have provided funding in the form of a $233M construction loan to McBride Cohen Co., Cantor Fitzgerald and Silverstein Properties for the first phase of construction at the mixed-use master-planned South Pier at Tempe Town Lake development. The total project is valued at $1.8B. Phase I will include 724 apartments and 26KSF of retail. Completion is expected by spring 2026.
5. McCarthy Building Companies recently celebrated the topping out of Phase II of the Sunnyslope High School renovation and expansion. The Glendale Union High School District project includes more than 40 new classrooms and supporting facility areas, such as lab and library space. Phase II completion is expected this fall.
Completions
6. Gila River Resorts & Casinos will open the newly constructed 150KSF Santan Mountain Casino on the SEC of Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway on June 30.
7. Resident move-ins will begin June 15 at LV Collective’s 326-unit, 309.7KSF Moontower apartment community on North 3rd Street in Phoenix.
8. A July completion and opening has been announced for the 28KSF Student Commons at Desert Sunrise High School in Maricopa.
9. DCS Contracting announced the completion of Thomas Rd at Tuthill (Acacia) Wash Civil Roadway Improvements located in the Verrado master-planned community in Buckeye for DMB Associates. This project consisted of a ½ mile of new roadway and storm drain improvements. The scope of work included the construction of a 15-cell cast-in-place reinforced concrete box culvert within the Tuthill (Acacia) Wash.
