Walmart, Inc. has paid $6.99M for nine commercial parcels on 33 acres in the Houghton Town Center in southeast Tucson and is planning a new Supercenter totaling more than 170KSF.
The site at 10052 E. Old Vail Road is located near an existing Walmart store on Old Vail and Houghton roads. The existing location is reportedly still performing well. The new Supercenter is planned to give customers more products and services and better accommodate the area’s current rapid growth. It will also have a fuel center on site.
The existing store will remain open while the Supercenter is under construction. When the new store is up and running, Walmart will close the old location and expects to reposition the space with two to three new tenants.
Walmart purchased the site in early July from an affiliate of Diamond Ventures. The seller was represented by CBRE’s Shannon Murphy.
The new Supercenter location is just east of a 22.35-acre Costco Wholesale site at 9748 E. Old Vail Road that will include a new warehouse store and fuel center of its own. (Source: Real Estate Daily News)
