Plans for the First Street and Brown Avenue Parking Garage in Old Town Scottsdale were released during a community meeting.
The project calls for an expansion of βThe Corralβ garage from two levels to four. The City of Scottsdale is the owner. According to DATABEX, DFDG Architecture is the architect, and Chasse Building Team is the general contractor. (AZBEX, July 12, 2024; Aug. 20)
During the meeting, Eric Loeffler of the Chasse Building Team discussed two separate structural options. Plan A would create an additional 183 spaces for a grand total of 394 stalls. Plan B would add 160 for 371 total spaces. Both plans are expected to cost roughly $15.5M.
Mayor Lisa Borowsky expressed disappointment with the project. The same garage is the subject of what is colloquially known as the βParkingateβ controversy. (AZBEX, June 13)
The upgrade comes as part of the $112M approved by Scottsdale voters in 2019 for βpublic parking facilities and improvements.β
Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026 and conclude in spring 2027. (Source)
