Groundbreakings
1. Tri Pointe Homes broke ground on Lusitano, a self-developed approximately 40-acre residential community at the SWC of Pecos and Greenfield roads in Gilbert. Plans call for 76 single-family homesites, with homes ranging from approximately 3.5KSF to 4.8KSF. The community will also include outdoor and recreational amenities. Model homes are expected to open Jan. 21, 2027.
2. Construction began the week of Aug. 31 on the Guadalupe and McQueen roads improvements in Gilbert. The project includes additional turn and through lanes, a new traffic signal, upgraded street lighting, ADA and drainage improvements and utility work. Construction is expected to take approximately 11 months. The project is funded through Gilbert’s voter-approved Transportation Bond.
Progress Reports
3. Circle the City has scheduled a tentative grand opening on Nov. 13 for the 85-bed East Valley Medical Respite Center at 5456 E. Main St. in Mesa. Perlman Architects of Arizona designed the project. The nonprofit has secured more than $20M toward a $24M fundraising campaign for the center, which will provide medical respite care and behavioral health services for people experiencing homelessness following hospital discharge.
Completions
4. Common Bond Development Group has completed the 6.6-acre Eastmarket at Eastmark lifestyle center at the NEC of East Ray and South Ellsworth roads in Mesa. Designed by PHNX Design and Suite 6 Architecture + Planning, the 50.5KSF development is anchored by a 23.3KSF Sprouts Farmers Market opening Sept. 18 and includes additional space for dining, retail, health and service uses.
5. American Eagle Outfitters Inc. opened a new distribution center at 200 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear.
6. The Arizona Department of Transportation completed a seven-week repair project on northbound State Route 51 near Camelback Road in Phoenix, replacing approximately 700 feet of damaged pavement and repairing the freeway’s drainage system. The work is part of a larger project to rehabilitate pavement along 9.5 miles of SR 51 between I-10 and Shea Blvd. Crews are continuing diamond grinding to improve the roadway surface. The project is funded through Proposition 479.
7. The first remodel of Elvira Elementary School in Tucson in more than 40 years is complete. Concord General Contracting completed the remodel in five weeks. The project renovated the school’s cafeteria, front offices and teachers’ lounge.
