    Groundbreakings

    1. XNRGY announced the groundbreaking of its new $300M state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Mesa. There will be four phases of the 1MSF manufacturing hub, with the first phase constructing a 275KSF facility. No expected completion date was given.

    2. The City of Hope Cancer Center Phoenix announced the groundbreaking of its surgical center expansion. The expansion will renovate 20KSF and add 15KSF of new space to offer four new operating rooms, recovery rooms, endoscopy rooms, post-anesthesia care units and new surface parking lots. Construction is expected to be completed in 2026. City of Hope is collaborating with Ryan Companies US Inc.

    3. The AC Hotel by Marriott and Element by Westin hotels have been slated to break ground in May at the Norterra community in Phoenix. Jackson-Shaw Co. and Holualoa Cos. partnered in the development of the dual-branded hotel. AC Hotel will offer 179 rooms while The Element will offer 95 rooms. The combined hotel building is more than 160KSF. Expected completion is in late 2025.

    4. Frankel Family Trust, owner and developer, announced the groundbreaking of Tuscany at Gabriella Pointe, a 760-unit apartment community in Gilbert. CHASSE Building Team is the general contractor. The community will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom units across 14 three-story and three four-story buildings. Completion is expected to be in summer 2025.

    5. A joint venture between Ray and VeLa Development Partners announced the groundbreaking of Ray Phoenix, a 26-story apartment building in Phoenix. The building will have 401 units offering studio, one-bedroom and penthouse options. Expected rent will range between $1,550 to $7,500 a month. Estimated completion is set for Q2 2026.

    6. Mesa Country Club announced the groundbreaking of the renovations for its historic golf course that opened in 1948. The $10M renovation will modernize the irrigation system and update the greens to USGA standards. Staples Golf Design is managing the project. Other partners include Total Turf Golf Services, Desert Reflections, Evergreen Turf and West Coast Sand & Gravel. Renovations are expected to be completed in November.

    Progress Reports

    7. The Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch announced that its $110M renovation will be completed in the fall. Once finished the hotel will be rebranded to Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort & Spa. Around half of the rooms at the Hyatt are completed and are in use.

    8. The $60.6M Bullhead City to Laughlin Bridge over the Colorado River has been announced to open June 7th. Construction continues with a significant list of punch items expected to be completed prior to the grand opening.

    Completions

    9. Clayco announced the completion of Skye on 6th, a 26-story mixed-use building in the Roosevelt Row Arts District in Phoenix. Skye consists of 309 apartments, 6,400SF of ground floor retail space and an 88KSF parking garage with 201 spaces. The building is 360KSF and offers a fitness center with a sauna, steam room and outdoor pool and spa.

    10. Korman Communities, in partnership with RXR, announced the opening of AVE Phoenix Sky, a 17-floor mixed-use building in Phoenix. AVE consists of 254 apartments, 17KSF of amenity space and 4,350SF of retail space.

    11. The City of Tempe announced the completion of Clark Park Community Center & Pool. This project, a part of the Refresh Tempe initiative, offers a year-round heated pool, a 17-foot water slide, four modern classrooms, two art pieces by Nicole Mueller and several additional upgrades.
