Groundbreakings
1. The U.S. General Services Administration and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection will co-host a groundbreaking ceremony with Arizona leaders for the San Luis I Land Port of Entry modernization and expansion project on Tuesday, June 27. This marks the start of the first major land port construction project funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The project includes a 100% increase in vehicle inspection capacity (from 8 to 16 lanes) and 40% increase in pedestrian inspection booths (from 10 to 14).
2. The X Company plans to break ground on the 19-story, 370-unit X Roosevelt at the SWC of Roosevelt Street and Central Avenue within the next few weeks. Brinkmann Constructors is the general contractor, and the design firm is Lamar Johnson Collaborative.
3. A 122-room Everhome Suites Hotel, part of Choice Hotels International, broke ground this month near Luke Air Force Base in Glendale. The developer is HighSide Companies. Delivery is expected in late 2024.
4. DCS Contracting has begun construction of intersection improvements located at Cooper & Elliot Roads for the Town of Gilbert. The intersection will be widened to add a third lane for north and southbound travel and a dedicated right turn lane for eastbound travel. Construction is expected to be completed by March 2024.
5. Phase 2 of improvements in Old Town Avondale are scheduled to begin this week. The Del Monte and Goodale Unit 2 neighborhoods will see water system and road improvements including replacement of water lines and fire hydrants, replacing street lighting and asphalt and reconstructing ADA ramps and concrete sidewalks.

6. The 737.6KSF South Pier at Tempe Town Lake has received $385M in construction financing and equity. The JLL Capital Markets’ advisory team of Tom Wilson, Brad Miner, Matt Benson, Brock Knapp and Elle Miraglia arranged the financing on behalf of The McBride Cohen Company. The development will feature 724 residential units, 26.8KSF of retail space, a pedestrian bridge and entertainment attractions.
7. Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently topped out Agave Ridge Behavioral Hospital, officially marking the midpoint of the construction project. The 100-bed acute care behavioral health hospital is slated to open in early 2024.
8. While sports fields, a dirt and gravel parking lot and user-related facilities have been completed at the Camp Verde Sports Complex, work is still left to do. The Camp Verde Town Council was recently presented with a request for additional funding of nearly $75K to finish the scoreboards and lighting component, as costs have risen since the project was initially estimated.

9. Banyan on Washington, a 223-unit multifamily development from Banyan Residential, has finished construction and announced its grand opening.
