Groundbreakings
1. Construction has begun on the eight-building, 330KSF Sossaman Business Campus at Sossaman and Elliot roads in Mesa. The business park was designed by ADW Architects. Arco Construction Company serves as the general contractor, and leasing is through CBRE. An official groundbreaking ceremony will be held June 20, and completion is scheduled for Q1 2025.
Progress Reports
2. Omni Hotels & Resorts has announced its renovation project at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia should be complete this fall. The multimillion-dollar refurbishment will feature improvements to all 293 guest rooms and 38 suites, as well as more than 100KSF of event and banquet space and 25KSF of meeting area.
3. The Arizona Department of Transportation has started the first of 23 projects to repair damaged pavement following the record-setting winter, kicking off improvements that will continue through summer. ADOT has created a website at azdot.gov/PavingRepairs with a schedule and map of the initial round of $50.5M in improvements, as well as information on $94M in planned additional pavement repairs.
Completions
4. The Arizona Department of Transportation’s ongoing $82M Interstate 10 improvement project has widened eight miles of I-10 by one lane in both directions between Verrado Way and State Route 85. The new lanes are designed to improve safety and overall traffic flow for local drivers in Buckeye and motorists on longer trips in or out of the West Valley.
5. Goodyear has opened a new, first of its kind, groundwater treatment facility on Palo Verde Drive. The $3.7M plant uses an improved process from Microvi to reduce the presence of nitrates while using less water in the treatment process than traditional methods.
6. A.R. Mays Construction recently completed the interior renovation of the Copper Cactus Grill at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino. The $1.7M, 2.9KSF renovation features upgraded finishes, new lighting, new sound systems, new wood ceiling, new flooring, new wall coverings, new paint, and updated sprinkler systems. The existing kitchen and back-of-house prep area was completely remodeled to include all new kitchen equipment and upgraded mechanical and air conditioning systems.
