Groundbreakings
1. The Babbitt Ranch Energy Center, a 161MW wind project from NextEra Energy Resources, is now under construction on Babbitt Ranches property in Coconino County, north of Flagstaff. This facility is scheduled to begin delivering clean energy to SRP customers by early 2024.
2. Wexford Developments and Wexford Real Estate Investors recently announced two groundbreakings. The company will break ground March 28 on Elkwood Flagstaff, a 224-unit community designed by Stewart + Reindersma Architecture, with Decca Builders, Inc. serving as general contractor. Wexford will also hold a groundbreaking for the 200-unit First and Farmer community in Tempe on March 29. The project was designed by Architekton and Adolfson & Peterson Construction is the general contractor.
3. Gorman & Company announced the groundbreaking for Centerline on Glendale, a 368-unit affordable housing community near 67th and Glendale avenues. Centerline on Glendale is Arizona’s first affordable housing community financed using state low-income housing tax credits.
4. A.R. Mays Construction is beginning work this month on a 40KSF, $9.2M Mountainside Fitness location at the SEC of McDowell Road and 103rd Street in Avondale. The development team is a collaboration between Mountainside Fitness, A.R. Mays Construction and Adaptive Architects. Completion is targeted for December of this year.
Progress Reports
5. Brycon has provided a status report on the 130KSF Sunlit Chemical Plant project in north Phoenix. The isotainer storage building has been completed. The team of Brycon, of WMA Architects, Simply Structural, Piping Systems, Zee Engineering and E2CS Environment worked closely with Sunlit Arizona, Mack Development and the City of Phoenix to accommodate the early turnover of this portion. The main production and solvent storage buildings are currently being enclosed for interior tenant improvement work. Office construction will follow closely along with completion of the waste treatment building.
Completions
6. Banner Gateway Medical Center has opened its new $243M, five-story patient tower and additional areas, which doubles the size of the hospital in Gilbert. The 351KSF addition includes an expanded Women and Infant Services Unit, added space for inpatient care on the same campus by Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, and more space for surgical, emergency, endoscopy and imaging services. Inpatient beds will increase from 177 to 286.
7. A.R. Mays Construction announced the completion of the $3M, 5.4KSF Madera Community Center in Queen Creek. The project was designed by RJA | Architecture and includes multiple active and passive recreation features.
8. CrossRoads Church recently held a ribbon cutting and initial service at its new, expanded facility on Florence Blvd. in Casa Grande. The church has worked for months to renovate a former LA Fitness location to serve as home to its growing congregation.
9. Lucas Construction Group recently completed a $1.5M tenant improvement project of 10KSF at Kierland Corporate Center II. The expanded offices are now home to Lucas Construction Group, Cre8tive Architecture and NSite Development.
