Groundbreakings
1. Vantage Data Centers has begun construction on Phase II at its Goodyear campus. The $1.5B campus will provide 160MW of capacity in three facilities totaling more than 1MSF. The development team includes McCarthy Building Companies, Corgan Architects, Rosendin Electric, Southland Industries and KW Mission Critical.
2. Thompson Thrift has broken ground at the planned 1MSF Elliot Tech Center campus at Elliot and Signal Butte roads in Mesa. When complete, the 75-acre site will be home to eight retail and industrial buildings.
3. The Hualapai Tribe and SOLON Corporation recently broke ground on the Grand Canyon West solar energy and battery energy storage system near the Visitor Center at Grand Canyon West. The multi-phase project will include 1,638 solar modules covering 42.7KSF and include a 770kW battery energy storage system.
Progress Reports
4. VAI Resort recently celebrated the topping out of its hotel portion. The $1B theme park, entertainment venue and hotel center will be the largest resort in the state when fully built out. The project owners recently announced a number of newly planned enhancements, including a concert venue in its signature lagoon.
Completions
5. On behalf of Metro Commercial Properties, Graycor Construction Company has delivered the final industrial buildings at Metro East Valley Commerce Center in Mesa. Designated as Phases III and IV, the delivery totals five buildings and marks the completion of the 11-building, 1.1MSF Class A industrial project.
6. Mullett Arena – Arizona State University’s multi-purpose hockey arena officially opened Oct. 14. Mortenson was the developer-design-builder of the 5,000-seat, 185KSF arena, which is managed by Oak View Group. Substantial construction was completed Oct. 1, seven weeks ahead of schedule.
7. The City of Tucson will host a celebration to mark the completion of the Broadway Improvement Project from Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road on Oct. 27.
