    Groundbreakings

    1. The Arizona Department of Transportation started a $7.2M pavement preservation project on SR 264 near Window Rock on July 18th. Plans include removing the existing surface pavement and replacing it with new asphalt, making spot pavement repairs and restriping the roadway. The work will cover an 11-mile stretch of SR 264 from mileposts 465 to 476 at the New Mexico state line.

    2. 55 Resort at McCormick Ranch – a 102-unit 55-plus multifamily property in Scottsdale – broke ground this week. The project is being developed by Edison Equity Management Corp., designed by Synectic Design, and built by W.E. O’Neil Construction.

    3. Exceptional Healthcare Inc. announced plans for a groundbreaking ceremony this week on its new 20-bed, 9.5-acre Exceptional Community Hospital in Prescott.

    Progress Reports

    4. Following site preparation that began last year and the beginning of construction this spring, progress is being made on the redevelopment of Central Station’s 22- and 32-story tower redevelopment on Central Avenue. The finished project will feature multifamily – including a designated affordable component, student housing, office space and ground-floor retail. Completion is targeted for 2024.

    5. The Arizona Department of Transportation’s pavement project on I-40 between I-17 and Walnut Canyon Road is entering the home stretch. Alternative lane restrictions will be in place through mid-August for the 10-mile, $21.9M project.

    6. Construction of the Marshalls big box department store in Maricopa’s Sonoran Creek Marketplace is ongoing. Progress estimates place potential completion on or around October 1st.

    Completions

    7. The 96-bed, 65KSF Diamondback Healthcare Center has opened on North 91st Avenue in Phoenix. The center’s facilities include rehabilitation beds and a skilled nursing level memory care pavilion.

    8. Wespac Construction Inc. recently completed construction of a memory care addition at Touchmark at the Ranch in Prescott. Developed by Touchmark Development & Construction and designed by LRS Architects, Touchmark at The Ranch Phase II consists of a two-story memory care addition attached to the existing IL & AL Grand Lodge. This addition provided 47.3KSF of specifically designed living for individuals experiencing memory loss and dementia.

    9. Revel Communities, a division of The Wolff Company, announced two independent living communities in Scottsdale will open this summer. The 159-unit Revel Scottsdale and the 171-unit Revel Legacy both feature interiors designed by Private Label International.
