Groundbreakings
1. While the Arizona Department of Transportation has not officially begun construction on the 23-mile Interstate 17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point, nighttime lane closures, daytime shoulder closures and speed-limit reductions will be necessary for ADOT and the Kiewit-Fann Joint Venture developer team to carry out pre-construction activities. Those activities include geotechnical boring and drilling, bridge and culvert inspections and survey work.
Progress Reports
2. Two new surgery centers from Apricus Health LLC are making progress in the West Valley. When built out, Apricus Health Surgery Center of Avondale will occupy 10KSF at the Akos Medical Center at 107th Avenue and McDowell Road. The 11.2KSF Apricus Health Surgery Center of Surprise will be located at Bell and El Mirage roads as part of a joint venture with Peak Heart & Vascular.
Completions
3. Kovach Enclosure Systems, LLC of Chandler recently completed the new exterior “skin” for the Phoenix Suns’ Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix. In partnership with the artist Ned Kahn, Kovach engineered the panels in-house and manufactured them along with the frames at their Chandler facility. In addition to kinetic walls, Kovach cladded the new commissary on the East Paseo with glass and metal panels and updated the glazing at entrances.
4. Liv Communities christened its fourth senior living development in the Valley with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at LivGenerations Mayo Blvd., 6650 E. Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix. The new community features 181 units – 155 homes and 26 casitas.
5. The Bluffs of Flagstaff, a nearly 211KSF campus from Civitas Senior Living and featuring 123 independent living, 64 assisted living and 25 memory care units is expected to finish construction and open in April.
6. Construction on the Holiday Inn Express in Bullhead City is expected to wrap up this month. Only some amenity work remains to be finished.
