    Awards & Accolades

    1. Paloma Community Park in Peoria was chosen from a field of 90 nominees to receive the Outstanding Facility Award for cities of 100,000 or more residents by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association.

    Groundbreakings

    2. Designer/contractor LGE Design Build/Group and owner Creation RE/PE broke ground on November 2nd on the 2.7MSF Airpark Logistics Center in Goodyear.

    3. Phoenix Children’s Hospital held an official groundbreaking on November 9th for its Arrowhead Campus in Glendale. Upon completion, the hospital will serve more than 1,250 children per year across more than 76,000 visits.

    4. McShane Construction will begin site work next week on Related Group’s 420-unit Town Chandler Apartments (previously known as Town Frye Apartments) development at Frye Road and Ellis Street in Chandler. Construction is expected to be completed in February 2024.

    5. Transwestern Development Company announced the start of construction on a 200-unit multifamily development at 651 E. 6th Street in the Novus Innovation Corridor. The project is a venture between TDC and equity partners Globe Corporation and University Realty. Construction began this month and is expected to deliver Q4 2023. MT Builders will serve as the general contractor.

    6. McCarthy Building Companies, along with students, staff, Board officials and local dignitaries, held a groundbreaking for the new Somerton High School project being built for the Yuma Unified School District.

    7. Great Hearts Academies broke ground on its first charter school in Buckeye in late October. Roosevelt Preparatory Academy is planned for a fall 2022 opening.

    8. American Leadership Academy broke ground earlier this month on ALA Anthem South, its 7-12 charter school in Florence. The school is scheduled to open in August 2022.

    9. Highland Prep West broke ground on its new, 42KSF facility in Avondale on November 5th. The new public charter high school will focus on STEM college prep education.

    Completions

    10. Bethany Crossing, a 72-unit affordable housing development in Glendale, has officially opened for residents.

    11. The Pima County Historic Courthouse has officially reopened following a series of extensive renovations begun in 2015. Pima County will host a series of events celebrating the reopening from November 15-19.
