The City of Chandler’s proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2027 now totals nearly $1.87B and includes more than $474M in new capital projects.
Department officials presented their FY 2027 budget requests to City Council at a recent budget briefing. The lion’s share of the capital projects were presented by Public Works and Utilities Director Jeremy Abbott and includes a water treatment improvement plan project with a $131M budget, the main contract for which is expected to top $100M, making it one of the most expensive single contracts in the history of Chandler.
The FY 2027 cost of $131M will be paid for via water bonds. The project will then see another $23.5M in FY 2028.
Improvements at reclaimed water facilities are budgeted for $45M in water bond funding in FY 2027, and brine water treatment facility improvements are targeted for $32M more in the next two fiscal years.
Other planned projects include $10.65M to rehabilitate manholes around the city with corrosion-resistant materials and $2.6M to widen and improve Kyrene Road north of Loop 202. (Source)
