Two San Tan Valley projects recently advanced after approvals from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.
In the first, the Board approved a minor amendment to the San Tan Valley Special Area Plan, rezoning and a Planned Area Development for the 225-unit Elux at Ocotillo Build-to-Rent community.
The development of one-, two- and three-bedroom units is planned for approximately 24 acres on the NWC of Ocotillo and Kenworthy roads.
In what may be a sign of development fatigue, Chairman Jeff Serdy voted against some of the agenda items for the project and said people looking for multifamily residences may want to look to the East Valley instead of Queen Creek. He cited traffic impacts, resident opposition and population growth as issues of concern and indicated he would not support any new, similar developments if they were not already in process. Serdy did, however, signal strong support for additional commercial and retail development.
Borgata West
The other development approved by the Board was a rezoning Planned Area Development for Borgata West, a planned 20-acre commercial project near Hunt Highway and Thompson Road.
Borgata West plans include a charter school, daycare center, a 7.2KSF retail pad, a car wash and four restaurant pads of approximately 3KSF each. (Source)
