HonorHealth Shea has submitted plans to the City of Scottsdale for a new parking garage at its campus on 90th Street north of the Mustang Library.

The four-story garage will feature 466 parking spaces and is planned to help resolve ongoing parking difficulties for users of the HonorHealth Labor and Delivery building.

According to the submitted narrative, “This existing condition triggers traffic issues associated with the 90th Street traffic lights, the hospital entrance and patient dropoff, and the nearby private parking lots. With the construction of this garage, HonorHealth plans to alleviate the burden of the current parking needs by providing a solution that is effective, safe for pedestrians and users, and provides an aesthetic that responds to the City of Scottsdale design guidelines while connecting visually to the existing hospital.”

The parking garage will be built with cast-in-place concrete. The initial construction will feature four floors, but a fifth is possible in a future expansion that could bring the total number of spaces to 592, according to the site plan notes.

The site design includes a bridge connecting the garage to the hospital on the second level. The bridge will give visitors and patients direct access to the lobby of the Labor and Delivery building to simplify arrivals and entry.

Vehicles will come into the site via a turn-in from 90th Street into an internal loop road connecting to the garage and providing direct access to the rest of the campus.

The design also features a pedestrian plaza between the garage and the existing medical center that will include café-style seating. The plaza is intended both as a gathering space for visitors and as a venue for community events.

HonorHealth is the project owner. The design firm is Lamar Johnson Collaborative. The general contractor is Clayco. Landscape design is by collectiV Landscape Architects, and Dibble is the civil engineer.
