    Groundbreakings

    1. Invenergy broke ground on its Hashknife Solar Energy Center in Joseph City. Developers stated the project is to provide up to 450 construction jobs. Construction is expected to last for 18-24 months. The target operational date is 2027, and the project will have a lifespan of 20 years. The project is composed of two phases capable of producing 475 megawatts in total.

    2. Construction has started on Cross Winds @ Three Star Pointe, a low-income housing development near El Mirage and Bell roads in Surprise. The project contains 45 three-bedroom rental townhomes and is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2026. Costs are estimated at approximately $28.5M.

    Progress Reports

    3. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced construction crews have finished one of the Interstate 10 improvement projects on Tucson’s northwest side and have begun working on a second improvement project south of downtown. The $171M I-10 project between Ina and Ruthrauff roads is scheduled to wrap up in mid-2025, when a reconstructed Sunset Road interchange opens. By the second half of 2025, ADOT is scheduled to begin work on another I-10 project that will reconstruct and widen I-10 between Kino Parkway and Country Club Road.

    4. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced it is approaching the halfway point on an interchange construction project in Kingman while starting its latest project creating a four-lane divided highway. The interchange project will feature a new free-flowing connection between Interstate 40 and US 93. The project is slated to be halfway complete by late 2025. On US 93 between Wikieup and Interstate 40, ADOT will kick off a project to widen a two-lane section of US 93.

    5. The Craig and Ruth Gimbel Hyperspace Planetarium in Fountain Hills recently held a public ceremony to lift its 38-ton, 39-foot diameter dome into place. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025. The project is a part of the International Dark Sky Discovery Center campus.
