Awards & Accolades
1. The Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects had their awards gala recently and provided numerous awards for Arizona projects. The Project Awards and recipients were:
- Granite Mountain & Fraesfield Trailheads – Honor Award: SmithGroup;
- Roadrunner – Honor Award: Collaborative V Design Studio;
- Biodesign Institute at ASU Building C – Honor Award: Trueform Landscape Architecture;
- Arcadia Neighborhood Learning Center – Award of Excellence: Colwell Shelor;
- Sznewajs Residence – Honor Award: Collaborative V Design Studio;
- Fez Way Residence – Award of Excellence: The Green Room Collaborative;
- Casa Blanca Retreat – Honor Award: The Green Room Collaborative;
- Edison Eastlake Community Master Plan – Award of Excellence: Norris Design;
- Interstate 10 Stories of Southern AZ – Landmark Award: Wheat Design Group.
Groundbreakings
2. Construction started last week on the $300M Chang Chun semiconductor chemical supply plant in Casa Grande.
3. Work is set to begin this week on the 1.2MSF, $200M Arizona Fresh: Agri-Food Innovation Center on Elwood Street between 7th and 16th streets.
4. Family Development has started construction on the $69M, 209-unit townhome development Town Germann in Gilbert. While FD normally self-performs as general contractor, for this project the firm partnered with Mosaic to help it increase its volume and accelerate the building cycle.
5. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Oct. 12 for the 84-room Cobblestone Hotel project in Wickenburg.
Progress Reports
6. The second 200KSF phase of development at Falcon Field Hangars – part of the City of Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport Expansion – is nearing completion. Representatives say panels for the development’s power system have arrived on site and will be installed in approximately three weeks. Tenants are expected to move in late November or early December.
Completions
7. Metro Commercial Properties and general contractor Graycor Construction Company have finished the final five buildings in the 1.1MSF Metro East Valley Commerce Center in Mesa.
8. On Point Architecture and Concord General Contracting have completed the $2.6M renovation and rehabilitation of One Life Church campus in Mesa.
