    Awards & Accolades

    1. Illume Innovation Center, a 370KSF life sciences, office and healthcare-focused structure in north Scottsdale, received the WiredScore Gold 2023 Certification. Alexandra Loye, Scott Boardman and Kristina Cutillo at Cushman & Wakefield were the Project Leasing team.

    Groundbreakings

    2. Lincoln Property Company broke ground on the 2.4MSF Luke Field industrial development. The project will have three buildings and is expected to be completed in Q4 2024. Building A will be 695,750SF, Building B will be 454,761SF and Building C will be 1.27MSF. Lincoln Property Company serves as the leasing agent for Luke Field. Layton Construction is the general contractor. Butler Design Group is the project architect.

    3. Dominium broke ground on two new affordable apartment complexes. The first, Estrella Springs, is a 492KSF, 396-unit community, while the second, Suncrest Vista, is 247KSF and 261 units. Both have units ranging from one-to-three-bedrooms. The project is being built by W.D. Construction, with a joint venture between Weis Builders and Dominium Construction and Architectural Services.

    4. Sysco Corp. broke ground on Sysco Arizona East, a 353KSF distribution center in southeast Mesa. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2025 and is expected to cost more than $100M. The shell was already constructed by general contractor Clayco and architect Ware Malcomb.

    5. Construction began for Hobby Lobby in Queen Creek Crossing. The store is expected to be completed in spring 2024. The Legacy Group and Vestar are the developers at Queen Creek Crossing.

    6. Busy Bees broke ground on the first U.S. expansion of its early childhood education centers with a new 13.7KSF center expected to open next August in Goodyear.

    Progress Reports

    7. The West Tower portion of the Central Station development in downtown Phoenix has reached topping out. West Tower includes the student housing, transit office and retail component of the 1MSF redevelopment project. Design firm Multistudio thanked general contractor Layton Construction, as well as development partners Medistar Corporation and GMH Communities. West Tower is expected to be completed in Q3 2024. East Tower will top out in 2024, and construction is expected to finish in 2026.

    Completions

    8. Dominium completed Vista Ridge, a 437KSF, 308-unit apartment complex in Phoenix. The property consists of one-, two- and three-bedroom units in 12 three-story buildings. WD Construction was the contractor and Todd + Associates served as the architect.

    9. Driftwood Capitalโ€™s $40M renovation of the Scottsdale McCormick Ranch Resort is nearly complete. The project included redesigning all guest rooms, adding 12 five-room villas, a full-service spa and more dining options. The room count was reduced from 326 to 278. Driftwood also recently refinanced the resort with a $115M loan from MetLife Investment Management.

    10. Optum RX opened a 213KSF pharmacy fulfillment center in Mesa. The facility includes eight miles of conveyor belts to fill more than 3.5M prescriptions per month.

    11. EMD Electronics completed a new 75KSF factory in Chandler for $39M.The new manufacturing factory produces semiconductor equipment.

    12. Estrellaโ€™s Solvida neighborhood in Goodyear completed a new neighborhood park featuring picnic ramadas and BBQ grills, lawns, a shaded playground with a tot swing, slide climbing structure and pebble bridge stepping activity.

    13. Prescott Recreation Services finished improvements on the Granite Creek Corridor and Trail, a 1.2-mile creek bed improvement project. Some of the components of the $3M project include handicap accessibility, recreational amenities and the creek channel improvements.

    14. House of Refuge opened a teen center for homeless youth at the former Williams Air Force Base in Mesa. The center serves as headquarters for residents aged 13-17 to blend tutoring, team building and life-skills development.
