Awards & Accolades
1. The Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association recently recognized the $65M Yavapai County Justice Center as its Project of the Year. Kitchell served as the County’s representative for the project, with Hensel Phelps as the general contractor and DLR Group leading the design team.
Groundbreakings
2. Provident Industrial is set to break ground on a 292.3KSF industrial site called the Orangewood Commerce Center at 6550 W. Orangewood Ave. in Glendale. Completion is scheduled for Q3 2025.
3. The Edith Hotel, Pacific Hospitality Group’s 180KSF Phoenix hotel, has started construction. The $140M hotel is expected to open in fall 2026. The hotel was designed by Gensler and is being constructed by Mortenson.
4. Willmeng has announced the groundbreaking of Greasewood Springs Community Schoolin the Navajo Nation, the first new school in the community in 62 years.
5. Construction is underway for Padel Alley, a site featuring eight padel courts, four pickleball courts, a terrace bar and a pro shop. Sport Empire Ventures LLC owns the 2.4KSF location at 5943 E. Speedway Blvd. in Tucson.
Progress Reports
6. The Florence Copper mining site is currently under construction to expand its commercial operations. The project now has four drill rigs on site and is preparing for the construction of the commercial SX/EW plant, allowing copper cathode sheets to be plated. The first copper cathode from the site is projected to be produced by the end of 2025.
Completions
7. The Pronghorn Group announced the pending completion of phase one of Baja Bungalows, a 140-unit rental community at the intersection of Highway 89A and Viewpoint Drive in northern Prescott Valley.
8. Brinkmann Constructors, in partnership with Park 7 Group, completed the construction of a 201-unit, 628-bed, 472KSF student apartment building called Park Place in Flagstaff.
9. A new 123KSF Fry’s Marketplace Storehas been completed at 11350 W. Tangerine Road in Marana.
10. Willmeng has announced the completion of the new 32KSF Mesa Police Evidence Facility.
11. The $20M Arizona Liver Health project, the Arizona Clinical Trials Medical Park, recently hosted its grand opening. The 28KSF Chandler site was renovated by Integrity Building Corporation and had Corgan as the architect.
12. The Arizona Department of Transportation completed a $4M interim project to restore limited access to a segment of State Route 88 from mileposts 222-227.
