    Groundbreakings

    1. Okland Capital and San Tan Development Group announced they have broken ground in phase one of Northside at SanTan Village. Phase one totals 37.2KSF across six different buildings. Okland Construction is the general contractor with Aline Architecture Concepts as the design firm.

    2. Peg recently announced construction has begun on AC Hotel by Marriott Scottsdale. The hotel will include 168 rooms with 4KSF of retail space on the ground floor. The adjacent Kimsey building will be preserved to serve as a leasing lobby, fitness room and housing residential units. The hotel and the Kimsey building will share an underground parking garage. The primary design firms are Douglas Sydnor Architect, Gensler and Ryden Architects. The prime contractor is Okland Construction.

    3. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Casa Grande for the new 145-room Marriott Hotel at the Promenade. Construction is expected to complete in approximately 14 months. The hotel will be four stories tall and contain amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, barbeque pits and a 2.4KSF meeting space.

    Progress Reports

    4. Officials with the MHA Foundation, Rim Country Educational Alliance and Rim Country Educational Foundation recently presented the construction progress report for Granite Dells Park. The project is now in phase two after a mixed phase one. During last year’s monsoon season, flooding lifted the island to the center of the lake, causing damage due to shortfalls in the construction process. Pacific Aquascape International agreed to repair the defects at their own expense. Football/soccer and baseball fields have been completed along with eight pickleball courts. The park is not yet ADA-compliant and still needs work on bathrooms, concession stands, parking and empty trenches.

    Completions

    5. Graycor Construction Company has announced the Phase 1 completion of the 1.5MSF Virgin Industrial Park, an industrial development by IndiCap and Invesco. The immediately available industrial park is located at 15748 W. Hatcher Road in Glendale.

    6. A year and a half after construction started, Sub-Zero Group Inc. has announced completion of a new manufacturing facility. The 600KSF project is located on a 36-acre lot at Camelback Road and Cotton Lane in Goodyear. The developer was ViaWest Group who paired up with general contractor Willmeng and designers DLR Group and Kimley-Horn.

    7. The Home Depot confirmed the opening of its store on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway for Sept 26. Construction began in December.

    8. Mekong Real Estate Investment Group announced the Mekong Plaza expansion, a project that broke ground in July 2022, should be completed in about four months. The 35KSF expansion already has tenants signed.

    9. A.R. Mays Construction has announced the completion of the Masyno Retail and Office Building. The 6.5KSF building is located at 7220 E 2nd St. in Old Town Scottsdale.
