Awards & Accolades
1. Achen-Gardner’s Waste Activation Sludge Line rehabilitation from the Arrowhead Ranch Water Reclamation Facility to a termination point on Bell Road has won both the 2022 Build Arizona Award from the Arizona Chapter Associated General Contractors and the 2022 Public Works Project of the Year from Arizona Chapter American Public Works Association. The project rehabilitated nearly 15,000 linear feet of 6” ductile iron pipe with Primus Line, making it the largest and most complex Primus Line installation in the U.S. to date.
Groundbreakings
2. The Arizona Department of Transportation will start a renovation and facilities upgrade at the Sunset Point Rest Area on I-17 at milepost 252 on July 11th. The project will upgrade the water and septic systems as well as the restrooms and vending areas.
3. SWC Development Partners broke ground recently on its second building, a nearly 136KSF warehouse/distribution facility at 11701 N. 132nd Avenue in the Skyway Business Park in Surprise. Completion is anticipated for Q2 2023.
4. On June 23rd, the Apache Behavioral Health Services held their groundbreaking ceremony for a new 10.8KSF dialysis center, which will be operated by Fresenius Kidney Care. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2023.
5. Construction has started on the Phoenix area’s fourth Dave & Buster’s location, a 19KSF restaurant, bar and entertainment outlet in Queen Creek Marketplace on Ellsworth Loop Road.
Progress Reports
6. The Gila River Bridge over the Gila River at SR 79 is on schedule and approximately 36% complete. Bridge girders were set last week. The project began construction in February and is expected to take 18 months to complete.
Completions
7. P.B. Bell announced its new 392-unit luxury multifamily community – Zaterra – is now open in Chandler near the Loop 202 and Arizona Avenue.
8. Co+Hoots Mesa – the 10KSF business incubation and coworking center developed as a public-private partnership between coworking leader Co+Hoots, the City of Mesa and Benedictine University – held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility at 225 E. Main Street.
