    Awards & Accolades

    1. Area Development magazine has named Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s north Phoenix plant one of 15 “Manufacturing Projects of the Year.”

    2. The 2023 America’s Transportation Awards named the Arizona Department of Transportation’s replacement of the US 60 Pinto Creek Bridge between the East Valley and Globe as Best Use of Technology and Innovation, Medium Project, for the Western region.

    Groundbreakings

    3. Vestar announced construction has begun at The Shops at Lake Pleasant, a $50M, 90KSF restaurant and retail development at the NEC of Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road. Upward Architects is the design firm, and Chasse Building Team is the general contractor. Completion is planned for the fall.

    4. Kentwood Ventures has begun construction at KV Casa Grande, a 314.5KSF industrial building near Thornton Road and Ash Avenue. The architect is Andrews Design Group, Inc., and the general contractor is Willmeng Construction, Inc. The speculative development is expected to deliver within the next year.

    5. AireBeam has announced it will begin construction of fiber Internet in Florence starting June 19. The Florence City Council awarded a franchise agreement to AireBeam at its June 5 meeting, after a unanimous vote to make high-speed fiber Internet available to every resident in the city.

    Progress Reports

    6. KORE Power, Inc. has received a conditional commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office for a loan in the principal amount of $850M under the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program. The loan will be used to fund the construction of KORE’s 1.33MSF advanced battery cell manufacturing facility KOREPlex in Buckeye.

    7. With two buildings totaling 28 units completed, The Garrett Companies have opened The Plaza Taos apartment community in Chandler. The final development will include 164 units and is expected to be complete later this year.

    Completions

    8. Amazon announced construction is complete for the Amazon Fulfilment Center KRB9, an expansive tenant improvement project to customize a nearly 1.2MSF building in the E202 Industrial Park on Elliot Road between Hawes Road and Loop 202 freeway in Mesa to store products from third-party resellers.

    9. Phase I of the 192-unit Inspiration at Cottonwood apartment community, developed in Cottonwood by Fain Signature Group, is complete and will open for residents in July.
