Awards & Accolades

1. Ranger Station Park in Sedona received a 2025 Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association in the Small Cities/Rural Communities Historical Restoration/Preservation category. The 3.4-acre park includes the restoration of the 1917 U.S. Forest Service Ranger Station House and 1934 Ranger Station Barn, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project required redesign efforts to address floodplain constraints, hazardous material remediation and drainage improvements while preserving existing trees and historic structures. A shade structure installation is expected to be completed by mid-June.
Groundbreakings
2. Work is underway on the City of Chandler’s Lindsay Road Improvements project between Ocotillo Road and Hunt Highway. Achen-Gardner Construction was the low bidder on the Design-Bid-Build project, which will widen Lindsay Road to four lanes and include roadway, pedestrian, drainage and utility improvements. Crews are currently installing more than 3,000LF of 12-inch to 18-inch storm drain infrastructure to support future roadway and drainage improvements.
3. Lincoln Property Company announced it has broken ground on Sky Harbor Logistics, an office-to-industrial redevelopment that will bring a two-building, Class A logistics campus to a Tempe infill site, minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. LPC has been active on the Sky Harbor Logistics site since 2024, managing the demolition of an office building and parking garage to make the parcel shovel ready. Once completed, the project will span 16.25 acres and 254KSF at 1515 W. 14th St. Building A will be 128.1KSF, with Building B occupying 127.6KSF.
Progress Reports
4. Vestar announced opening dates for the $275M Verrado Marketplace in Buckeye, a 500KSF retail development at the entrance to DMB Associates’ 8,800-acre Verrado master-planned community. Target, the project’s first anchor, is scheduled to open May 17, while Marshalls and HomeGoods, the other anchors, will open May 21. Multiple other tenants will also open in May. The development is projected to be fully open by January 2027 and will ultimately include more than 55 retailers, the Harkins BackLot entertainment experience, restaurants and community gathering spaces.
5. The One Camelback office-to-residential conversion project is in progress in Uptown Phoenix and remains on track for completion in Q4 2026. Kinella Capital recently completed major infrastructure and building system upgrades, while additional progress is underway on interior construction, exterior site work and amenity areas. Stellar Residential is assisting with operations and lease-up planning for the redevelopment.
6. Construction is ongoing on the final phase of Southbridge Marketplace at the NEC of Honeycutt Avenue and John Wayne Pkwy. in Maricopa. Developer Thompson Thrift said multiple tenants are expected to open this fall, including Aldi. The retail, restaurant and service-focused development is being completed in two phases, with additional tenant announcements expected later.

7. The first residents have moved into Corsica Villas at 20th Street in south Phoenix, marking the start of occupancy at the first of two Build-to-Rent communities nearing completion from Rockefeller Group. Construction is ongoing on a rolling basis. Corsica Villas at Euclid & 7th Street is expected to begin welcoming residents in the coming weeks. The gated developments will deliver a combined 152 townhomes, ranging from approximately 1.1KSF to 1.5KSF. RPM Living is serving as the exclusive leasing and management partner.
8. Construction will continue in May on the City of Tempe’s Grand Canal Connection Project as crews begin work along Lake View Drive. The project includes a new accessible multi-use path, landscaping and connectivity improvements linking the Grand Canal, Rio Salado North Bank and Crosscut Path. Work is expected to continue through August.
Completions
9. Final work is underway on the Arizona Department of Transportation’s $171M I-10 widening project between Ina and Ruthrauff roads in northwest Tucson, with all improvements expected to open by mid-May. The project adds a fourth lane in each direction along I-10 and includes the new Sunset Road interchange and extension, reconstructed Orange Grove Road interchange, bridge replacements and related infrastructure improvements.
10. JAG Development announced the opening of Willetta 15, a boutique multifamily community in downtown Phoenix’s East Evergreen Historic District. The development at 531 E. Willetta St. includes 15 one-bedroom apartment units and marks the fourth and final phase of JAG Development’s 20-year, $15M mixed-use project at Willetta Street and 7th Street.
11. LGE Design Build delivered a 94KSF office, manufacturing and warehouse facility for iS Clinical. The tenant improvement project, located in Superstition Commerce Park in Mesa, was completed in partnership with Dalfen Industrial and consolidates multiple operational functions into one centralized location.
12. Wespac Construction completed a $7.5M, 34.2KSF office build-out and tenant improvement project for Verra Mobility at Union Mesa, 2046 W. Riverview Auto Dr. SmithGroup designed the Class A office space, which includes conference rooms, executive offices, collaborative work areas and training space. Key trade partners on the project included Wilson Electric, Aspen Construction, Aspen Paint, Wholesale Flooring, Barrett Homes, Highborn, Compton Plumbing, L&H Mechanical and National Fire.
13. The City of Peoria recently reopened its renovated City Council chamber at 8401 W. Monroe St. following a nine-month, approximately $5M renovation project. Improvements include accessibility, technology and seating upgrades intended to enhance public participation.

14. The Arizona Department of Transportation completed a $3.9M roadway reconstruction project along two miles of SR 83 through Sonoita. The project included pavement replacement, drainage upgrades, new signage and pavement markings, guardrail replacements and fog coating improvements between mileposts 29 and 31.
15. Achen-Gardner Construction completed installation of a new illuminated gateway sign along Mill Avenue in Tempe as part of the City of Tempe’s Downtown Streetscape Improvements – Mill Avenue, Rio Salado Parkway to University Drive CMAR project. The nearly 95-ft.-wide structure spans Mill Avenue above the Tempe Streetcar corridor and was installed alongside ongoing hardscape, landscape, drainage and public art improvements in the downtown corridor.
16. Opportunity Tree recently unveiled the new Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation Fireslammers Sports Complex at its Casa Grande campus. The fully accessible facility at 209 W. First St. was renovated with a $40K grant from the Phoenix Suns/Phoenix Mercury Foundation and includes upgrades for multiple sports. The complex will serve Opportunity Tree participants and Special Olympics athletes.
