    Awards & Accolades

    1. Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC received the Wastewater System Project of the Year award for its City of Phoenix PVC-Lined Concrete Sewer Pipe and Manhole Rehabilitation – North CMAR project during the 98th Annual AZ Water Conference and Exhibition. The project rehabilitated more than 17KLF pipe, and 36 manholes were either rehabilitated or constructed. There were 20 sewer bypass operations, including a double containment system crossing the Central Arizona Project canal at the Cave Creek Bridge.

    2. Gensler was honored at the 2025 IIDA Southwest Design Awards for two commercial office projects. Comarch Data Center received the Award of Merit for Commercial Office 20KSF–75KSF. TikTok Scottsdale received the Award of Excellence for Commercial Office 20KSF–75KSF and was also named Best of Show within the same category.

    Groundbreakings

    3. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company held a groundbreaking on April 29, commencing construction on the third manufacturing fab at its north Phoenix campus. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was among the attendees. TSMC announced an additional $100B investment in its Arizona presence in early March.

    4. Dominium has announced it will break ground on its first Build-to-Rent development in Maricopa on May 12. Saddleback Village at Stonegate will deliver 215 three- and four-bedroom homes and include private backyards, a playground and outdoor amenity spaces.

    5. Creation and LGE Design Build announced the start of construction on Nexus Commerce Center, a 273KSF Class-A industrial park located at Elliot Road and Hardy Drive in Tempe.

    6. Compass Church recently broke ground on its new 18KSF facility in Goodyear. Designed by CCBG Architects, Inc., the $6.7M project will include a worship space, classrooms, parking, and site field and landscape development. The facility, located at 16060 W. Van Buren St., is expected to open in April 2026.

    7. Construction is underway on a 12.7KSF medical office building in Phoenix that will house a new Advanced Spine and Pain location. The $6.5M project was designed by Cotton Architecture and Design, and Kraus-Anderson Phoenix is leading construction. The building will include a 4.5KSF ambulatory surgery center, a 3.5KSF specialty clinic and 4.7KSF of leasable space.

    8. KBE West, the Arizona-based regional office of KBE Building Corporation, announced the commencement of renovation work on the San Manuel Administration Building in San Manuel. Construction is expected to finish in early 2026.

    Completions

    9. Dream Finders Homes Inc. is opening Rancho Mirage, a new 123-home single-family home community in Maricopa. The project marks the company’s first Arizona development. Homes will range from 1.6KSF-2.5KSF.

    10. Cyclic Materials, a Canadian company that extracts and recycles materials from electronic waste, has leased a commercial building in the Phelan Pecos Center 1 industrial development at 8341 E. Pecos Road. The company invested $20M in the 141KSF facility. CBRE brokered the long-term lease. Inventory acquisition has already begun, and the company expects the facility to be fully operational by early 2026.

    11. Lucero Apartments, one of the earliest deliveries in the ongoing redevelopment near Metrocenter in Phoenix, announced it is now leasing. A grand opening is planned for May 2 at the community, located at 9275 N. 29th Ave.

    12. Casa Grande’s Fire Station 503—a $12M, 14KSF facility at Pinal Avenue and Rodeo Road—opened with a ceremony and dedication April 24. The new station replaces a portable building at Casa Grande Municipal Airport that was closed in 2020.

    13. Tucson Tamale Company has completed a 14KSF food processing facility with a production capacity of 25 million tamales/year at 102 W. 29th St. in Tucson. The facility stems from a joint project with Diamond Ventures, which oversaw the buildout. TTC owners Todd and Sherry Martin have a 15-year lease on the building.
