    Groundbreakings

    1. Tolleson Union High School District held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Estrella Vista Academy near Alamar Blvd. and Dysart Road. It will be the District’s eighth school. Academic opportunities for students include instruction in film, sports medicine and, possibly, aviation. The District also has a partnership with Phoenix Raceway that will offer education in electric vehicles, automotive technology, engineering and other disciplines. Chasse Building Team is the general contractor.

    2. Sunbelt Investment Holdings Inc. has broken ground on Sanctuair Deer Valley, a 363-unit multifamily community on 18 acres at the NWC of 19th Avenue and West Grandview in Phoenix. CCBG Architects is the design firm, and MT Builders is the general contractor. The first units, clubhouse and fitness center are expected to be delivered in Q3 2027.

    3. Gorman & Company and the City of Tucson have broken ground on the rehabilitation of Tucson House, a 17-story, 408-unit public housing development at 1375 N. 13th Ave. in Tucson. The project will modernize the property and reconfigure it into 358 affordable apartment units for residents ages 55 and older. The rehabilitation is supported by a $50M Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

    4. Sun State Builders announced via LinkedIn construction has begun at ATLAS Exchange Building D in Mesa. The 40KSF build-to-suit on six acres in the Eastmark Corridor has finished rough grading; the building pad has been certified, and column footings have been poured.

    5. The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin the $17.8M SR 51 Pavement Improvement Project along nearly 10 miles of State Route 51 between the I-10 Mini-Stack interchange and Shea Blvd. in Phoenix this weekend. The work will remove worn asphalt and apply diamond grinding to smooth the concrete roadway surface. The project is scheduled for completion this fall.

    6. Epstein Construction confirmed construction has begun for a new Southwest Gas operations facility on Lewis Street in Wilcox. Southwest Gas has owned the six-acre site for several years, and the new facility, which includes maintenance and office areas, will house the operations unit for the area.

    Progress Reports

    7. Richmond American Homes of Arizona Inc., a subsidiary of Sekisui House U.S. Inc., has opened two neighborhoods, Seasons and Estates at Haciendas at White Peak, within the Haciendas at White Peak master-planned community at 13719 W. Morning Vista Dr. in Peoria. The neighborhoods feature single- and two-story homes ranging from approximately 1.7KSF to 2.8KSF.

    9. Copa Health has opened La Victoria Commons, a 104-unit affordable housing community at the NEC of Apache Blvd. and Price Road in Tempe. The development was delivered in partnership with the City of Tempe, Newtown Community Development Corporation and Rail CDC. An on-site clinic and café are expected to open later this spring. Newtown CDC is also developing 19 affordable townhomes for the community, scheduled for sale this summer.

    10. Primak Construction Group completed a 2.9-acre expansion and site improvement project at the FALCO Aluminum manufacturing facility at 1350 S. 56th St. in Chandler. The work included paving, landscaping and upgraded stormwater infrastructure as part of Phase II development of the manufacturing campus. Primak Construction Group served as Construction Manager at Risk for FALCO Aluminum.

    11. The City of Mesa and the Mesa Historical Society have completed renovations to the Arizona Baseball Museum in the historic Lehi Auditorium in Mesa.

    12. Willmeng Construction completed renovations to Mike Ingram Heritage Park along Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway for the City of Maricopa.
