Groundbreakings

1. Construction has begun on the Cambria Hotel Mesa, a five-story, 107-room upscale hotel at the corner of Elliot and Ellsworth roads in Mesa as part of the $60M East Gate Plaza development. Aspect Hospitality Group owns the project and is developing it alongside Clarity Strategic Opportunities and O’Reilly Hospitality. Canyon Builders is the general contractor, RKAA Architects is serving as development manager and architect, Spokes Hospitality is handling interior design, and EPS Group is responsible for engineering. The hotel is expected to open in early 2027.
Progress Reports
2. Taylor Morrison has unveiled model homes for Verdin, a 473-acre luxury master-planned community in northeast Phoenix within the Deer Valley School District. The development will include up to 1,225 homes across five collections and is located south of East Sonoran Desert Drive and west of North Cave Creek Road. The project will feature a roughly 23KSF central recreation amenity with indoor and outdoor gathering spaces, which is expected to be completed in Q2 2026.
3. Rockefeller Group has started construction on Corsica Villas at Laveen, a 213-unit Build-to-Rent residential community in the Laveen neighborhood of Phoenix near South Mountain. The project, which broke ground in October 2025, will feature standalone duplexes and townhomes with private backyards and community amenities. Synectic Design is the architect, and BFL Construction is the general contractor. Leasing is expected to begin in mid-2027.
4. Interior demolition and asbestos abatement are underway at the long-vacant Hotel Arizona, which will reopen as the Arizona Hotel HSL Hyatt. The 13-story, 296-room full-service convention hotel is located at 181 W. Broadway in downtown Tucson, adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center. HSL Properties owns the property and plans to preserve the existing architecture in addition to completing significant building upgrades. Approximately $7M of interior work has already been completed, with exterior construction expected to begin as early as next month. Developers expect the hotel to reopen within the next two years.
5. Construction is nearing completion on Phase 2a of the Mohave Superior Courthouse project, with work on the courthouse annex expected to wrap up in March, according to County officials. The $6M annex follows completion of the $23.4M, four-story, 61.6KSF main courthouse building that opened in 2021. County officials said the overall project remains under budget, with only a portion of contingency funding used despite approved change orders.
