    Groundbreakings

    1. Construction is set to begin on the second segment of the I-10 Wild Horse Pass Corridor Project, a 26-mile highway widening between Phoenix and Casa Grande. The new phase covers a 10-mile stretch from Gas Line Road to south of State Route 387 and will expand I-10 from two to three lanes in each direction. FNF Construction, Inc. is the contractor for this segment. The four-phase project is scheduled for full completion by late 2029.

    2. Construction has begun on the Lake Pleasant Pkwy. widening project in north Peoria, stretching from Loop 303 to approximately 1,000 feet north of the Central Arizona Project Canal. The project will expand the roadway to three lanes in each direction and includes a widened bridge over the CAP Canal, new bike lanes and sidewalks, drainage improvements and utility extensions. Work is also underway on Amkor Way, a new roadway connecting Lake Pleasant Pkwy. to 96th Avenue.

    3. Mill Creek Residential has broken ground on Amavi Queen Creek, a 166-home rental community. The project will consist of three-bedroom, two-story townhomes and is located at 19211 S. Sossaman Road, roughly six miles east of Loop 202. First move-ins are anticipated for spring 2027.

    4. DSV is set to break ground on a 950KSF freight and logistics facility in Mesa near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The $14.5M project will serve as a regional hub supporting the semiconductor industry and is designed to accommodate multiple company divisions. Completion is scheduled for early 2027.

    Progress Reports

    5. Construction on the $168M expansion of the Signal Butte Water Treatment Plant in Mesa has reached a major milestone with the completion of a new 8MG potable water reservoir. The multi-phase project is located on 84 acres north of Elliot Road and east of Signal Butte Road. McCarthy Building Companies Inc. serves as general contractor, with Black & Veatch as engineer of record. Phase I is scheduled for completion in October 2026, with Phase II expected to finish in early summer 2027.

    6. Construction is underway on a new 15KSF medical services building at the Coconino County Detention Facility, with work currently focused on the foundation and slab. The $20M project also includes related improvements to existing jail operations and is anticipated to be near completion by the end of 2026.

    7. Arizona Sports Medicine Center is constructing a 34KSF medical office building in Scottsdale as part of the Sierra Bloom mixed-use healthcare development along the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. The building will serve as ASMC’s flagship location. Groundbreaking occurred last October. Topping out is scheduled for March, with completion scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

    8. Leasing has begun at Verge, a newly delivered Build-to-Rent community in Apache Junction. The community features single-family rental homes and was developed by 29th Street Capital, which has completed two other BTR projects in the Goodyear submarket. Construction is expected to be completed in March.

    11. SOLON Corporation has completed an 8.8-megawatt behind-the-meter solar project at Tucson Water’s Central Avra Valley Storage and Recovery Project in Tucson, which the company described as the largest installation of its kind in the state.
