Groundbreakings
1. Lincoln Property Co held a groundbreaking for the 1.6MSF, six-building Goodyear AirPark Jan. 12.
2. The Opus Group announced the start of construction on Confluence Industrial Park, a 325KSF, two-building speculative industrial development on 21 acres in Casa Grande. Opus is the developer, design-builder, and architect and structural engineer of record on the project, which is expected to deliver in December.
3. Thompson Thrift will begin construction this month on The Maddox—a 252-unit, Class A multifamily development in Buckeye. The project is scheduled to open late next year.
4. A project to improve the driving surface along both directions of the US 60 Superstition Freeway between Loop 101 and Loop 202 in the East Valley started with an eastbound freeway closure the weekend of Jan. 6-9.
5. The Arizona Department of Transportation, in partnership with the City of Needles, Calif., is rehabilitating the State Route 95 Needles Bridge, spanning over the Colorado River. Construction is scheduled to begin Jan. 16 and last through the spring of 2023.
6. The Town of Queen Creek broke ground earlier this month on a trio of roadway connectors into downtown. The three projects will connect Aldecoa Drive and Munoz Street from Ellsworth Road to Ellsworth Loop and Summers Place from Aldecoa Drive to Munoz Street.
7. As of Dec. 9, W.E. O’Neil was finishing up pre-construction services and moving into construction on the Sun City Oro Valley Activity Center renovation project in Oro Valley.
8. Work is expected to begin in February for the Town of Gilbert’s Public Safety Building remodel. The project will renovate and expand the Police Dispatch Center and the Emergency Operations Center.
Progress Reports
9. Most of the work has been completed for the Camp Verde Sports Complex. Still outstanding is the installation of scoreboards, goal posts, and infield dirt for the baseball/softball field. There is also work to be done on the concessions and restrooms, sewer and water lines and completion of the APS power facility for the lighting. Completion is expected in the spring.
Completions
10. Aviva Goodyear, a 288-unit multifamily development on North Falcon Drive, has finished construction and is currently 78% leased. The project broke ground in Sept. 2020.
11. The 273-room Cavasson Hilton Hotel in north Scottsdale has finished construction and is open for guests.
12. The 266-unit apartment community Hangar at Thunderbird by P.B. Bell at 57th Avenue and Greenway Road in Glendale is now open.
