    Groundbreakings

    2. The City of Chandler, Comunale Properties, Stevens-Leinweber Construction and Lee & Associates broke ground last week on Chandler Connection – a new Class A industrial development directly adjacent to Chandler Airport. This is Comunale’s market entry into metro Phoenix, with more Valley projects on the horizon.

    3. A groundbreaking was held last month for The Alexander, a new $49M, 209-unit technology- and wellness-focused multifamily development in Marana. Thornydale Apartments LLC is the owner/developer.

    4. The Arizona Humane Society will break ground in November on its new $46M campus near Papago Park.

    5. Tri Pointe Homes started on 266 homes at the 316-acre master-planned Madera community in Queen Creek. Madera is being developed by Communities Southwest.

    Progress Reports

    6. As Gila County’s 11KSF Payson Complex Multipurpose Building nears completion, officials have announced it will open in two phases due to supply chain issues impacting the availability of HVAC components. Phase I will open in December, with Phase II opening in February 2022.

    7. Nine of the 18 holes at the Ahwatukee Lakes Golf Course, currently being restored by owner Wilson Gee after years of legal fights, could be ready for play by Thanksgiving, according to recent testimony in Maricopa County Superior Court.

    Completions

    8. Mark-Taylor announced they are leasing The Piedmont , 707 E. 6th Street in Tempe in the Novus Innovation Corridor. The community comprises 318 luxury apartments.

    9. McCarthy Building Companies’ Renewable Energy and Storage Group has finished construction on the 200MW Sun Streams II solar project, located on a 1,000-acre site in Arlington.

    10. Sundt Construction, Inc. recently completed the south residential building for the Benedictine. This is the first of two multifamily structures surrounding the historic Benedictine Monastery in midtown Tucson.

    11. The Empire Group of Companies held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Village at Olive Marketplace at 53rd and Olive avenues. The 204-unit Build-To-Rent community is more than 50% leased.

    12. 180 Degrees Design + Build announced the completion of The Ravenscroft, a 30KSF performance venue in Scottsdale featuring a state-of-the-art concert hall and intimate jazz lounge. Architekton was the design firm.
