Awards & Accolades
1. Achen-Gardner Construction’s Salt River Siphon Repair Design-Build project for Central Arizona Project (CAP) and Beardsley WRF Solids Pipeline Rehabilitation project for the City of Peoria has been awarded the 2020 Public Works Project of the Year award in the category of Environment from APWA.
Groundbreakings
2. Mirabel Golf Club recently began construction on the $5M, 20.6KSF Mirabel Desert Lodge Clubhouse renovation and expansion project at 37100 N. Mirabel Drive, Scottsdale. PHX Architecture is the architect and A.R. Mays Construction is the general contractor. The project is expected to be complete in October 2020.
3. Greenlight Communities has broken ground on the $17M, 89-unit multifamily community, Cabana on Hayden, which will offer Scottsdale residents brand new, affordable and centrally located rental homes. Cabana on Hayden is located at Hayden Road and Oak Street, with construction scheduled to start on June 1st and open January 2021.

4. The Renaissance Companies is moving quickly as tilt panels are going up at Tratt Properties 1.3M SF Elwood Logistics Center in Goodyear. Designed by Deutsch Architecture Group and represented by JLL, the team anticipates the completion of the largest industrial spec building in Arizona Q1 of 2021.
5. Optima, and joint venture partner, Principal Real Estate Investors, announced that a new luxury apartment tower, 7140 Optima Kierland, is coming soon to Optima Kierland Center in North Scottsdale. Construction on the 12-story tower is well underway with the building topped off, windows in and power on. First move-ins are slated for August.
6. Not satisfied that the principals involved in the Fountain Hills Medical Center are adequately addressing the concerns of nearby residents, the Fountain Hills Planning and Zoning Commission delayed its consideration of a special use permit for the operation of the hospital. The hospital, already under construction with steel supports and framing out of the ground, needs the special use permit to operate 24 hours a day. The commission will take up the permit request again within 60 days.
