    Groundbreakings
    1. Tratt Properties LLC has broken ground on a 1.3MSF, Class A industrial development sitting just south of the junction of Interstate 10 and the Loop 303, in a designated Opportunity Zone in Goodyear. Called Elwood Logistics Center, it is the largest speculative industrial building ever to break ground in the Valley. Construction is expected to be complete in December 2020. The Renaissance Companies is the general contractor and Deutsch Architecture Group is the architect.
    2. ViaWest Group broke ground on Superior Logistics Center, two Class A, mid-bay industrial buildings, 71.5KSF and 79.2KSF at the NWC of Superior Avenue and 44th Street just south of Sky Harbor Airport. Alliance Bank of Arizona, Deutsch Architecture Group, Kimley-Horn & Associates, and Nitti Builders are a part of the development team.
    3. The team of Pimara Construction and Achen-Gardner Construction is installing more than 11,000 LF of water line (4” to 16”) and 56 valves (4” to 16”) on McClintock Drive and McKellips Road for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC). The project is expected to be complete in June.
    4. Pinal County officially broke ground on a new $16M, 50KSF complex at 31500 N. Schnepf Road in San Tan Valley that will bring several government services to the area, including its first library. A.R. Mays Construction is the general contractor.
    5. Newtown Community Development Corporation has broken ground on Tempe Micro Estates, a community of 13 homes, 600 square foot each, on three vacant lots near Rita Lane and Spence Avenue.
    Progress Reports
    6. Construction of Arizona State University’s new $130M, 283KSF residence hall in downtown Phoenix is well underway, and the architectural design firm, Studio Ma Inc., has unveiled what it will look like. The building is expected to open in fall 2021.
    7. Achen-Gardner Construction is working hard on the Sewer Capacity Improvements CMAR project for the City of Tempe. They have substantially completed work on 23rd Street and have moved on to the next phase of the project.
    Completions
    8. McCarthy Nordburg recently added the law office of Frazer, Ryan, Goldberg & Arnold LLP; the law office of Engelman Berger (both in Phoenix); the new P.F. Chang’s China Bistro headquarters in Scottsdale; and Zovio (previously Bridgepoint Education) in Chandler, to its resume of design work. Menemsha Solutions was the general contractor for the 55KSF P.F. Chang’s HQ; Stevens Leinweber was the general contractor for the 130KSF Zovio project and the 15.5KSF Engleman Berger office project; and Jokake Construction was the general contractor for the Frazer Ryan Goldberg & Arnold LLP office.
    9. Beth Katz of KatzDesignGroup provided full scope interior design for Arizona Integrative Medicine & Spa, 11648 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale; and Starkman Facial Plastic Surgery, 8560 E. Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale. The project team for the 3.1KSF tenant improvement to Arizona Integrative Medicine & Spa included Michael Hall, architect of record; and Kaiser Construction, general contractor. The team for the 3.3KSF interior design to Starkman Plastic Surgery included K&A Architects, Kaiser Construction and Forward Tilt.
    10. Riley | Smith Construction & Development has completed construction of The Noble, a 15-unit loft apartment community at 2722 N. 7th Street, Phoenix. Doug McCord with Architectural Resource Team (ART) and interior designer Joel Contreras worked with Riley | Smith to transform the office building into a unique apartment community.
    11. Hale Theatre Arizona, located in Gilbert, recently completed expansions that began in 2019. The now 22KSF space encompasses a rehearsal space, dance studio, meeting space, costume/wardrobe department and scene shop on site, plus an all new state-of-the-art, sustainable lighting and sound system.
