Giving Back

1. Salt River Project sent two crews on April 18 to support the Light Up Navajo VII initiative, which provides electricity to remote homes in the Navajo Nation near Tuba City. The effort included collaboration with 53 utility companies from 24 states to expand access to power for underserved households. SRP has provided electricity to more than 128 homes since 2019 and contributed manpower, equipment and expertise to the project. The American Public Power Association and the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority organized the effort.

2. Kirk McClure, VP at JE Dunn Construction and Founder of The Stadium Classic, was named to the Sun Devil 100 Class of 2026, an awards program sponsored by the Arizona State University Alumni Association. McClure will be honored on April 24 at the Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU. The program recognizes ASU alumni who own or lead businesses.

4. U.S. News & World Report has released its national list of 2026 Best Senior Living ratings. The magazine rated 23 of Arizona’s 244 senior living communities as “Best” based on the satisfaction of residents’ and family members with the facilities’ safety, value, caregiving, food, dining and other factors. 5. Four Salt River Project employees and one company team were honored with the SRP Presidents’ Volunteer Spirit Awards on April 15. The SRP Presidents’ Volunteer Spirit Awards recognize employees who dedicate their hearts, time and skills to their community and local nonprofits. In order of announcement, the honorees are:
- Brian Heath, who volunteers with House of Refuge;
- Kristofer Kautz, who volunteers with TheaterWorks;
- Kazandra Esperanza Zelaya, who volunteers with Arizona Sustainability Alliance;
- Brenda Hernandez Cortazar, who founded Ahwatukee Robotics, and
- SRP Customer Modernization Team, which won the Customer Modernization Team Award.

6. Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR recently welcomed Jerry LoCoco to its brokerage team as an Industrial Specialist focused on leasing, sales and land development across the U.S. and Mexico.
In Memoriam
7. Loretta Flick passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A respected industry leader and former colleague, Flick devoted her career to serving ACEC Arizona, APWA and the broader community. She made a lasting impact through her leadership and professionalism and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and unwavering commitment to others.
