Developer Macrotech Corporation recently held a neighborhood meeting to inform residents about a dual-branded TownePlace and Fairfield Marriott hotel it plans to develop in Lake Havasu City.
Planned at 421 N. Lake Havasu Ave., the three-story hotel would provide a total of 119 rooms and include a rooftop restaurant and pool. There would be 145 standard parking spaces and 12 spaces for RVs.
Parking and traffic were of particular concern for the roughly 20 attendees. Project representatives, including Rob Sampson of project architectural firm Selberg Associates, assured them the property and conditions would be evaluated by a traffic engineer to determine the best solutions for integrating the hotel with the surrounding area.
Residents also expressed concerns about nighttime noise from the rooftop restaurant and about the potential for obstructed views.
The site is currently zoned for general mixed-use, which includes hotels as an allowed development type.
Another neighborhood meeting will be held in the future. The project still needs to secure approval from the Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council. (Source)
