1. ACEC Arizona recently issued its Excellence in Arizona Engineering Awards for 2025. The honorees, project owners and projects were:

Winners of the 2025 Clifford C. Sawyer Achievement Award, 2025 People’s Choice Award and 2025 Judges’ Choice Award were announced at the Nov. 7 event but have not yet been published to the ACEC Arizona website and were not made available by press time.
Groundbreakings
2. Greenlight Communities has broken ground on Cabana Mesa Drive, a six-acre, 180-unit attainable rental community near Mesa and University drives in Mesa. The project, developed in partnership with PGIM Real Estate, held its formal groundbreaking on Nov. 6. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2027.
Progress Reports

3. Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. has announced the grand opening of Teravalis, a 37,000-acre master-planned community in Buckeye. The milestone will be celebrated with Floreo Fest at Teravalis on Nov. 15, featuring the community’s first village, Floreo.
4. SSS Partners LLC has secured financing to complete the Fire N Ice Arena & Hotel in north Phoenix, allowing construction on the long-delayed project at 2727 W. Bronco Butte Trail to resume. The development includes an ice and multi-sport complex, a hotel and a private high school for student-athletes. Construction was halted for several years following pandemic-related shutdowns but is now underway again, with completion targeted for August 2026.
5. Greystar has begun pre-leasing Album Surprise, a 4.1-acre, 161-unit 55+ active adult apartment community at 16431 N. Parkview Pl. in downtown Surprise. The development features one- and two-bedroom residences. Move-ins are expected to begin in early 2026.
6. The Arizona Department of Transportation has opened a new southbound lane along Loop 101 between Princess Drive and Shea Blvd. in Scottsdale. The addition is part of a $108M widening project that began in January 2024 and is scheduled for completion early next year.
Completions
7. Lincoln Property Company has completed I-10 International Logistics Campus Phase I, its first ground-up industrial development in Tucson. The $80M project spans 79 acres at the SEC of Alvernon Way and Los Reales Road and totals 373.8KSF across two warehouse buildings. Brinkmann Constructors served as general contractor, with design by Butler Design Group and Ware Malcomb. Cushman & Wakefield | PICOR is the exclusive leasing broker.
8. La-Z-Boy Inc.’s new 225KSF distribution center at 17000 W. Glendale Ave., Suite D100, in Glendale has opened.
9. The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a $9.8M project to widen a one-mile section of State Route 69 in Prescott after 16 months of construction. The work, done in partnership with the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization, added a third lane in each direction and improved safety with a raised center median between Prescott Lakes Pkwy. and Frontier Village.
10. The Bungalows at Sundance, a new Build-to-Rent community, has been opened by Cavan Companies. The complex features detached single- and two-story homes in Buckeye’s west-side corridor.
11. Trader Joe’s has opened its first Goodyear store at 14770 W. McDowell Road. The 13.5KSF specialty grocery store is located at the NWC of McDowell Road and Bullard Avenue in the GSQ mixed-use development.
