Salt River Projectย continues to experienceย significantย increasesย inย customerย electricity demandย as Phoenix and Maricopaย County lead theย nation inย populationย growth and economic development.
Toย meet customersโย growingย needs, SRPย hasย issued aย Request forย Proposalย forย additionalย power generationย resourcesย of allย typesย to meet summer peak capacity needs.ย SRP is seekingย competitiveย proposalsย for up toย 400MWย ofย peakย generating capacityย by summer 2024,ย andย another 600MWย by summer 2026, forย a total up to 1,000MW byย summer ofย 2026.
Resources selected through thisย all-sourceย RFP process willย alsoย support SRPโsย 2035 Sustainability Goalsย and SRPโs goal toย add 2,025MW ofย newย utility-scale solar by 2025.ย Theย requestedย generationย is neededย in addition to SRPโs recently announced contracts forย new renewable resourcesย and plans to expand its Coolidge Generating Station.
SRP will considerย all technologiesย and currentlyย servesย customerย energy needsย from generation produced with a diverse fuel mixย includingย nuclear, coal, hydroelectric, natural gas,ย battery storageย and renewable resources including solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal.
