    Awards & Accolades

    1. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Arizona has announced the recipients of its 2025 Legacy Awards. Honorees will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony Nov. 7.

    The winners are:

    • Karla Petty – Retired, FHWA, and
    • Chuck English – President, Hunter Contracting Company.

    Boards & Commissions

    2. SMPS Arizona announced its 2025–2026 Board of Directors. The new board is composed of:

    • Tiffany Gorrell from GLHN Architects & Engineers as President,
    • Jamie Schindeldecker from Speedie & Associates as Past President,
    • Anissa Rasheta from Säzän Group as President-Elect,
    • Brad Thompson from SBD Contracting Services as Treasurer,
    • Emily Laughlin from Dibble as Secretary,
    • Melanie Garcia from Hensel Phelps as Membership Director,
    • Sara Reynolds from Dibble as Publicity Director,
    • Melissa Johnson from Danson Construction as Programs Director,

    Company News

    3. Kennedy Wilson is set to spend $347M in the acquisition of the Toll Brothers’ Apartment Living platform. The acquisition consists of 18 apartment/student housing properties with $2.2B in assets under management. Kennedy Wilson will also manage 20 multifamily properties that will still be owned by Toll Brothers, reflecting an additional AUM of $3B. Additionally, Kennedy Wilson will acquire Toll Brothers’ pipeline of 29 different projects.

    4. Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. has expanded into Arizona with new offices in Phoenix and Scottsdale. Leading the expansion are Steve Eccher, Arizona Market Leader, and Katie Gordon, Business Development Manager.

    Promotions

    5. Todd Guthrie has been promoted to COO at W.E. O’Neil Construction. He previously served as Regional President for Arizona, Colorado and Tennessee and has nearly 40 years of industry experience, including 35 with W.E. O’Neil.

    6. Brian Grimaldi has been promoted to Structures Section Manager at Ethos Engineering, LLC. Grimaldi has more than 24 years of experience in the design and inspection of bridges, retaining walls and other transportation-related structures.

    New Hires

    7. Courtney Dunlap has been named President of Benson Construction Inc. in Gilbert. His more than 20 years of experience have included leadership roles at AR Mays Construction and StreetLights Residential and projects such as the City of Scottsdale Senior Center, Agritopia Epicenter and Uptown Alley Entertainment Center.

    8. Tom Jacobs has joined Kidder Mathews in Phoenix as Senior VP. He has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience, previously spending nearly a decade with Cushman & Wakefield after beginning his career at Grubb & Ellis.

    9. Patrick Magness has joined Corgan as Associate Principal and Office Sector Studio Leader in Phoenix. He brings 30 years of experience across workplace, sports, health, education and commercial projects.

    10. Todd Kadjan has joined Brinkmann Constructors as Project Director. Kadjan has more than 24 years of experience. In his new role, he will oversee the planning, execution and completion of projects throughout a range of sectors.

    11. Seth A. Neufeldt has joined Burch & Cracchiolo as an attorney. His practice focuses on real estate litigation, civil litigation, real estate transactions and estate planning.

    12. TEPCON Construction, Inc. announced the appointment of Abbie Bocik as its new Project Manager. In her new role, Bocik will develop client relationships, ensure quality outcomes and support TEPCON’s goal of creating spaces where people and businesses can thrive.

    13. Terracon named Sabrina Perez Client Development Manager to support its strategic growth and client engagement across the Desert Southwest Region. Perez has more than two decades of experience in the A/E/C industry. She will lead initiatives in business development, strategic planning and client relationship management.

    Departures

    14. David Malewitz is set to resign from his position as City Manager for the City of Eloy. Malewitz’s resignation comes as he accepted a position with the City of Paso Robles in California. The Eloy City Council is scheduled to determine his official end date during its Sept. 22 meeting.
