Giving Back
1. Sundt Construction volunteers renovated the S’more Café at Ryan House in Phoenix, completing the project in three weeks and using more than 300 volunteer hours. Led by Preconstruction Manager Jesse McDonald, the effort included new appliances, cabinetry and accessibility features. Phoenix Design One donated design services, and the Sundt Foundation supported the project.
2. The 21st annual Phoenix Sundt Foundation Charity Golf Tournament raised $230K for the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center. Sundt Construction and its industry partners participated in the event.
Awards & Accolades
3. Weld Like a Girl in Yuma was the only non-school recipient selected for the Airgas High School Welding Education Initiative, which supports welding programs nationwide. This is the third year Weld Like a Girl has received the award. The organization partners with EOC Charter High School to teach students how to use industry-relevant tools, which are provided as part of the initiative.

4. Gannett Fleming TranSystems announced it is rebranding to GFT. The new brand reflects the integration of Gannett Fleming, TranSystems and five recently acquired businesses into a unified national platform that delivers infrastructure consulting services across North America. In addition to the rebrand, GFT announced the appointment of Mike Orth as CEO. Orth brings nearly 36 years of leadership experience, most recently serving as president of governments and communities at Black & Veatch. Orth was a member of the company’s board of directors and has experience with the company’s water, power, environmental, and mission-critical solutions.
Promotions
5. PCL Construction promoted David Campbell to District Manager for its Phoenix Buildings office. Campbell will continue to strengthen PCL’s brand throughout Arizona and develop a team in search of regional opportunities. He has been with PCL since 2005 and most recently served as Manager, Strategic Expansion.
6. Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC recently promoted Phillip Zhang to Assistant Project Manager.
New Hires
7. DLR Group has appointed Melissa Alexander as Principal and Higher Education Leader. Alexander has more than 20 years of experience in the industry. She is a member of the International Interior Design Association and guest lectures at Arizona State University.
8. Sundt Construction hired Joe Baugh as its Senior Project Manager in its Building Group. Baugh most recently served as the Senior Project Manager at the Pima County Office of Medical Examiners project in Tucson. In his new role, Baugh will lead building projects in the southern part of the state and is specifically assisting with the SunZia HVDC Voltage Source Converter Station West project in Coolidge.
9. Arizona Escrow & Financial Corporation recently announced four new hires:
- Leslie Singson, Business Development Manager;
- Tracy Jankowski, Business Development Manager;
- Darci Finsterwalder, Escrow Officer, and
- Nicole Steele, Commercial Escrow Officer.
