    Company News

    3. Suntec Concrete is celebrating its 40th anniversary and also recently announced its Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The ESOP makes Suntec one of the top 10 largest construction employee-owned companies in the nation and the second largest employee-owned company in Arizona.

    4. Neighborhood Ventures announced the launch of its Arizona Multifamily Opportunistic Fund, a fund to allow accredited investors to invest in Arizona multifamily commercial properties that are selling at a distressed rate of 30% below intrinsic value.

    5. Having ceased operations last July, multifamily maintenance firm AZP Multifamily Supply Company recently held an auction to liquidate its entire inventory of materials and supplies. The inventory was valued at approximately $4M.

    Promotions

    6. City of Tucson has named Tim Thomure as City Manager. He will start in the role once Michael Ortega leaves the position in June. Thomure has served as Deputy City Manager since January 2023.

    7. Harvard Investments promoted Amy Weidman to VP of Development for Harvard Communities from her previous position as Director of Entitlements. Jeff Zimmerman was promoted to VP of Development for Estrella Development Company from his previous position as Director of Entitlements and Development.

    8. JE Dunn Construction recently promoted two team members. After three years with the company, Kirk McClure has been promoted to VP – Client Solutions Director. Chris Grant has been promoted to General Superintendent.

    9. Sundt Construction recently promoted Scott Miller to Director of Operations and Support Services. In his expanded role, Miller will oversee Sundt’s equipment services department and its warehouse.

    New Hires

    10. Mission Critical, LLC has hired RoAnn Thorne as Chief Operating and Financial Officer.

    11. Harvard Investments has hired three new team members. Roger Theis was hired as VP of Development. Marissa Worley joined as the new Director of Accounting, and Steve Brunner has come on as Financial Analyst.

    12. Olsson has hired David Hertzberg as Southwest Geography Leader to oversee operations in Arizona, Nevada and California.

    13. Terri Place Killgore was hired by City of Scottsdale as the new Economic Development Director.

    14. FCL Builders hired Ricky Painter as Project Manager. Painter will lead both speculative and design/build to suit industrial projects in the Phoenix and Mountain West Region.

    15. DLR has hired five new members:

    • Nancy Sprute, Senior Interior Designer;
    • Connie Lewis, Senior Project Accountant;
    • Lazaro Flores, Electrical Designer;
    • Teeka Gray, Design Researcher/Associate, and
    • Evan Meisner, Designer/Associate.

    Departures

    16. Heath Melton, who most recently served as President of the Phoenix Region for Howard Hughes Holdings, has left the company. Melton had been in charge of developing Teravalisβ€”Hughes’ 37,000-acre master-planned community in Buckeye. Neither Melton nor Hughes has publicly commented on the separation.
