    Groundbreakings

    1. 29th Street Capital, in partnership with The Mersho Family, broke ground, on The Residences at Apache Trail, a 201-unit single-family housing rental community in Apache Junction. The unit mix includes studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom residences.

    2. Wedgewood, the parent company of Blue Rabbit, held a groundbreaking Feb. 22 for its new 90KSF veterinary pharmacy at 1680 E. Northrup Blvd. in Chandler. The new location will eventually replace Wedgewood’s existing 25KSF location in Scottsdale and is expected to provide 250 jobs by 2027. Gilbane Building Company serves as general contractor.

    Progress Reports

    3. The Flats at Jasper, a 240-home Build-to-Rent community on 26 acres, has finished 75 of 240 planned homes in Prescott Valley. The community is expected to deliver 30 homes a month until completed in January 2025. Atlantic Jasper LLC is the developer of the new community. Floor plans include one-, one- w/den and two-bedroom homes ranging between 760SF and 1,039SF.

    Completions

    4. Southwest Airlines announced the completion of its 80KSF Hanger Expansion at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. Included in the space was a 34KSF Ground Service Equipment and Provisioning building. Hensel Phelps Construction Co. provided Construction Manager at Risk services.

    5. Korman Communities, in partnership with RXR, opened AVE Phoenix Sky a 254-unit, 17-floor apartment tower in downtown Phoenix.

    6. Epcor announced the completion of Copper Basin Reclamation Facility, a new wastewater plant in San Tan Valley. The facility is expected to process 3 million gallons of wastewater per day.

    7. UPS completed construction on the $38M, 163.8KSF Santa Cruz facility in Tucson. Operations are expected to open March 15th.

    8. StreetLights Residential announced leasing has begun at The Bergen, its new 58-unit multifamily community in The Grove mixed-use development in Phoenix. StreetLights Creative Studio served as the architect and interior designer, and Trueform Landscape served as landscape architect. SLR Phoenix Construction II, LLC served as general contractor. Move-ins will start in the spring.

    9. Arizona Western College and McCarthy Building Companies completed the $17.5M Matador Activity Center, a 45KSF building to serve 11,000 students in Yuma. APS awarded AWC a Clean Energy Project Achievement for an estimated 53,000 kWh, 635,000 pounds of carbon eliminated, carbon offset equivalent to 550 trees planted, and 161K gallons of water saved.

    10. Arizona Humane Society announced completion of its new care shelter facility called the Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus in Phoenix. The AHS Sunnyslope facility will close after the move.

    11. NatureSweet has opened its $5M greenhouse facility in Bonita.

    12. Foothills Community Park in Yuma has announced a Feb. 29th completion date for Phase I. Phase II will bring power to the park as well as restrooms.
