    Groundbreakings

    1. The Arizona Department of Transportation began the $200M Loop 202 Santan Freeway widening project between Loop 101 and Val Vista Dr. in Chandler and Gilbert. The project is scheduled under the Regional Transportation Plan managed by the Maricopa Association of Governments.

    2. Fueled by the brisk leasing activity at its 251-unit FirstStreet Ballpark Village multifamily community in Goodyear, which is expected to deliver this October, Harvard Investments recently broke ground on the 222-unit FirstStreet Skyline community in Buckeye. FirstStreet Skyline is expected to start pre-leasing before the end of 2025.

    Progress Reports

    3. McCarthy Building Companies placed the final beam on the $185M Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building 12 project at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus in Mesa. Construction is on track to complete in fall 2025. Trade partners of the project include Comfort Systems USA, Wilson Electric, KT Fabrication, E&K of Phoenix, Western Building Group, Climatec, MGC Millwork and Pete King.

    4. The Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort’s $115M renovation is expected to finish and debut in October. Renovations include all 496 rooms, 18 luxury private casitas and the two-story Gainey House. WATG and Hale Collective were the designers.

    5. The Arizona Department of Transportation’s State Route 88 (Apache Trail) is expected to open in September after a $4M interim repair project. Construction has been ongoing since 2019 after flooding damaged the roadway.

    6. The City of Flagstaff, Eagle Mountain Construction and the Arizona Department of Transportation have finished Phase 1 of Beulah/University Realignment Project. Phase 2 will run until September.

    Completions

    7. McShane Construction Company has completed Manor Scottsdale, a 286-unit apartment complex in Scottsdale. The complex offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Humphreys & Partners Architects was the architect.

    8. Quarterra Multifamily, a subsidiary of Lennar Corporation, announced leasing has started at Harwood, a 268-unit apartment community in Phoenix. The community offers studio, one- and two-bedroom units ranging from 524SF-1,312SF.

    9. Oak Street Health Inc., which was acquired by CVS, opened 13030 W. Thunderbird Road, a 10KSF medical center in El Mirage. The facility includes 12 exam rooms and a community room for seniors.

    10. Banner Desert Medical Center announced the grand opening of its Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinic in Mesa. The new MFM clinic provides inpatient and outpatient services including emergency services, Level 1 trauma care, cancer care, heart care, orthopedics, woman & infant services, rehabilitation and neurological care.

    11. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the completion of the $5.3M US 191 Bridge over Interstate 10 in Willcox after a crash severely damaged the structure.
