    Groundbreakings

    1. Cavan Commercial has broken ground on Signal Butte & Germann, a three-building Class A light industrial development at 7423 S. Signal Butte Road in Mesa. The 4.1-acre project will feature three 15KSF freestanding buildings designed for flexible ownership and tenancy. Alexander Building Company is the general contractor; Pinnacle Design Inc. is the architect, and KBELL Engineering is the civil engineer. June 2027 is the estimated completion date.

    2. A groundbreaking ceremony for a new Hampton Inn in Winslow is planned to take place before the end of June. The hotel will be on North Park Drive next to Maverik and the Winslow Hotel. The four-story project will include 81 guest rooms.

    Progress Reports

    3. The Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Paradise Valley at 7200 N. Scottsdale Road is advancing the second phase of its $70M renovation, scheduled for completion in Q1 2027. The 40-acre resort, owned by Trinity Investments and managed by Highgate, has already renovated 260 guest rooms and added meeting space and amenities. Phase Two includes updates to 134 Valley Villas, more than 50KSF of refreshed meeting space, the addition of The Enclave—a 10-room luxury hotel-within-a-hotel concept inspired by Japanese design—and Katsuya, a Japanese restaurant by SBE Entertainment Group.

    4. The Downtown Tempe Refresh project is entering its final phase of construction along Mill Avenue between University Drive and Rio Salado Pkwy. Paving work will continue through July 8, after which all major project elements are expected to be complete. The project, the first major infrastructure improvement in the area in 40 years, includes roadway, utility and streetscape upgrades throughout the downtown corridor.

    5. A Nov. 16 opening date has been confirmed for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam at 1055 W. Grant Road. The casino will cover 163KSF, including a 52.3KSF gaming floor and four food and beverage options.

    6. Vertical construction on a $26.5M, 450KSF Class A warehouse at the SEC of 83rd Avenue and I-10 in Phoenix has begun. Pasternack Properties is developing the project, and Sun State Builders is serving as the design-build general contractor. The cross-dock industrial facility, designed to serve logistics and manufacturing users, is expected to be completed in December.

    Completions

    7. Buc-ee’s has opened its first Arizona location at the SEC of Bullard Avenue and I-10 in Goodyear. The 74KSF convenience store and travel center sits on a 22-acre site the company purchased for $17.2M. Construction began in May 2025.

    8. Southwest Hospitality Management celebrated the grand opening of the Marriott Fairfield Inn & TownePlace Suites at 742 N. Mission Pkwy. in Casa Grande. The four-story, 145-room hotel opened May 6 and includes 63 Fairfield Inn guest rooms and 82 TownePlace Suites extended-stay accommodations. The project is located within the Promenade at Casa Grande.

    9. Construction of the new 85C Bakery Cafe at Park 10 in Avondale is complete, and signage has been installed. The project is undergoing final preparations ahead of an opening later this summer.

    10. The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed its $1.1M Dark Skies LED Lighting Project in Flagstaff, replacing more than 370 high-pressure sodium fixtures with amber LED lights along I-17, I-40, Historic Route 66, US 180 and US 89. The project, which began in May, supports roadway safety while reducing impacts on the night sky in Flagstaff, the world’s first International Dark Sky City.
