The City of Phoenix Planning & Development Department launched an innovative, easy-to-use system to better serve customers with projects that require a building permit.
SHAPE PHX is the new Land Management Information System that replaces the Department’s primary business applications, including the Electronic Plan Review system and PDD Online.
The first release of SHAPE PHX launched June 6th, introducing Single-Family Residential permit categories to the SHAPE PHX system, including:
- Submit applications,
- Check plan review status,
- Communicate with staff.
- Request meetings with staff,
- Upload documents,
- Request inspections, and
- Pay fees online.
The new SHAPE PHX Customer Portal will be available 24/7 with residential subdivisions, commercial permit categories, hearings and planning projects in future releases.
In 2016, PDD staff began working on a new system to replace the aging permitting system known as KIVA. SHAPE PHX puts the Department and the city in a better position to facilitate growth and support residents with their planning and development needs. SHAPE PHX allows internal and external users to communicate more seamlessly and efficiently regarding all planning, plan review, permitting and inspections related matters as it brings all PDD’s business processes into one integrated system.
All users submitting for plan review, permitting, licensing or other items in release one will need to create a new user account to use the SHAPE PHX system. Users that have projects in release one and future releases will work out of PDD Online, ProjectDox and SHAPE PHX portals. The portal to create an account will be available on the launch day.
