Early voting for Question 490, the $100M bond proposed by Coconino Community College, begins this week as ballots are being mailed out on Oct. 7
CCC has presented the details of its proposed bond to groups across Coconino County. Its most recent presentation was before the Coconino County Board of Supervisors during its Sept. 30 meeting.
Question 490 will, if approved, fund construction projects at multiple CCC locations. The general obligation property tax bond question would be paid off over a 20-year period.
Estimates show homeowners would pay an average of $6 to $7 a month in Flagstaff and $2 to $3 a month in Page and Williams.
Proposed projects include:
- The addition of an allied health center on the Lone Tree Campus;
- New student housing in Page;
- A career and technical education lab in Williams, and
- Rebuilding the Fourth Street Campus.
Bond funding will solely be used for construction costs, as the college is planning to cover administrative costs itself should the bond pass. The CCC Foundation has committed to fundraising $10M. Bond projects will not raise tuition for students.
CCC said the projects will assist in developing programs suited for the allied health, construction and manufacturing industries.
If approved, CCC plans to issue a request for proposal in November, with construction expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and buildings opening in late fall 2028 or spring 2029. If the bond is not approved, CCC will continue its current services but will not undertake projects planned with bond funding. (Source)
