Groundbreakings

1. Work officially commenced on the Lone Tree Corridor Projectalong Butler Avenue and Lone Tree Road in Flagstaff on Feb. 18. This is the first phase of the LoneTree Overpass project, which will result in the creation of a north-south roadway connection extending Lone Tree Road to Route 66 via a bridge. Phase One is slated to reach completion in 2026. Ames Construction is the contractor. Funding was acquired through Proposition 419 and Proposition 420.
2. Willmeng and the Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical Department held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on Fire Station 144. This 11.3KSF facility will be the seventh fire station for Daisy Mountain Fire and Medical. The property, located at 2402 E. Cloud Road in Desert Hills, will help reduce emergency response times and enhance service delivery to residents in the area. Perlman Architects is the design firm.
3. AireBeam announced the start of building out fiber infrastructure at the Voyager RV Resort & Hotel in Tucson. The buildout is expected to be completed by the end of March, with some residents having access to fiber as early as the end of February. This project promotes the accessibility of high-speed fiber Internet to some 2,200 RV and modular home units and the resort’s hotel and other facilities.
Progress Reports
4. The first phase of Tempe Diablo Stadiumrenovations is set to be completed for the spring training season. Renovations come from a lease extension for the Angels. A Major League clubhouse adjacent to the Minor League clubhouse is included in the renovations. The project is expected to cost an estimated $20.9M, with the Angels providing $10M in funding. Phase Two is expected to cost $30M.
5. The Arizona Department of Transportation announced the newly constructed additional travel lanes on the east- and westbound mainline of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Projectare now open. This component, located between I-17 near Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Baseline Road and on westbound I-10 mainline between US 60 and 32nd Street, also includes additional HOV lanes, which are expected to open in March. Also coming in March will be finishing work on the I-10 and SR 143 interchange, completing construction of the new HOV flyover ramps that will connect I-10 and SR 143.
6. A presentation during Tempe City Council’s Jan. 30 work session indicated the Downtown Mill Avenue Streetscape Projectmay complete as early as the beginning of 2026. Construction began in late summer 2024. New pedestrian ramps, landscaping, sidewalk expansion, lithomosaic historical images and water/irrigation line upgrades are included in the renovation project.
7. The 14KSF, $11.5M Casa Grande Fire Department Station 503on Rodeo Road is nearing completion and is expected to open in April. CORE Construction is the general contractor.
Completions

8. Wespac Construction, Inc. finished the 99.5KSF Cove Logistics Centerat the SWC of Van Buren Street and 37th Avenue in Phoenix. The previously vacant site now holds an industrial building. Work included underground infrastructure, stormwater retention work and truck courts. Deutsch Architecture Group and ViaWest Group were also attached to the project.
9. Revel Surf at Cannon Beachat 4503 S. Power Road in Mesa recently opened. The park includes a surf pool, wave pool, diving pool, beach park, cabanas, restaurant and other amenities. Admission is free during February.
