Awards & Accolades
1. Area Development magazine has named LG Energy Solution’s Queen Creek plan as one of its 15 Manufacturing Projects of the Year and one of 10 Cleantech Projects of the Year. The magazine also named Amkor’s Peoria semiconductor packaging and testing facility as one of its 10 Non-manufacturing Projects of the Year.
2. Aligned Data Centers received a Green Globe for New Construction certification from Green Building Initiative for its Phoenix (PHX) and Chicago (ORD) data centers. Both data centers received a rating of three Green Globes for their design and construction, demonstrating outstanding success in resource efficiency, environmental impact reduction and occupant well-being.
Groundbreakings
3. Mack Real Estate Group broke ground on Mack Innovation Park, a 1.2MSF industrial park in Scottsdale. The first phase is expected to be completed in Q4 2025. JLL Capital Markets arranged the financing package. Withey Morris Baugh PLC was the land-use counsel.
4. Willmeng Construction announced the groundbreaking of Formation 10, a 427KSF industrial development in Goodyear. Formation Interests, Crescent Real Estate and City of Goodyear are part of the project team.
5. Subtext announced the start of construction of VERVE Tempe, a 15-story, 240-unit student housing apartment community in Tempe. The building offers studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units. Construction is expected to be completed in Fall 2026. ESG Architecture & Design is the architect. Brinkmann Constructors is the general contractor. Kennedy Wilson provided financing.
6. The City of Chandler and Gorman & Company announced the groundbreaking of Villas on McQueen, a public housing development that was converted through the HUD’s Rental Assistance Demonstration program.
7. Agate Construction broke ground on Falco Aluminum Manufacturing Facility’s expansion project, which will increase the facility by 14.7KSF in Chandler. The expansion will serve as an additional manufacturing space for commercial and recreational uses.
8. Construction of Scottsdale’s 12KSF, $10.5M Fire Station 612 has begun. Axon donated a portion of the 75 acres it purchased in an Arizona state land auction for a new campus facility for the City to use for a fire station, a well and an aquifer. Construction is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
9. The City of Peoria announced the $2.4M groundbreaking for a roof replacement at Peoria City Hall. The Peoria Municipal Complex, which includes the City Hall, is more than 30 years old. Construction is expected to be completed in March 2025.
Progress Reports
10. Lincoln Property Company unveiled plans for revamping the 238KSF Union Building One as part of the 1.3MSF Union master plan in Mesa. Designed by interior architect McCarthy Nordburg and slated for delivery this fall, the elevated amenities center around “The Clubhouse,” which will add a main lounge, state-of-the-art conference center, and bar and kitchen areas. Two move-in-ready speculative office suites are also planned.
11. Brinkmann Constructors celebrated the topping off of Super Radiator Coils, a 150KSF industrial facility in Mesa. Ware Malcomb is the architect. Construction is slated to be completed in Fall 2024.
12. The Maricopa County Department of Transportation announced it will open two lanes across the Gilbert Road Bridge over the Salt River. The completion is expected in late 2024. Funding came through Maricopa Association of Government’s Arterial Life Cycle Program.
Completions
13. The Talking Stick Golf Club has completed a major renovation, refreshing the facility that was opened 25 years ago. The renovations include a 20KSF clubhouse expansion, a new grill restaurant, a 200-person banquet space, a bridal suite, a groom’s room, a patio and a ceremony space.
14. The Hopi Tribe Economic Development Corporation announced the grand opening of Taawaki Inn, a 44-room hotel in Clarkdale.
15. DCS Contracting, Inc. announced the completion of the Cooper and Elliot Road Intersection in Gilbert. Y.S. Mantri & Associates was the design engineer. Tristar Engineering was the PM/CM.
