Groundbreakings
1. Demolition work has begun to ready the site of First + Farmer Residential, a seven-story, 200-unit multifamily development in Tempe. Construction is expected to get underway early in 2023.
2. Construction has begun on the $40M, 110KSF headquarters and manufacturing plant for FrameTec in Camp Verde. The facility will produce roof and floor trusses and wall panels. Completion is expected in spring 2024.
3. The Opus Group announced the start of construction on Deer Valley 30, a three-building speculative industrial development at 1300 W. Alameda Road in north Phoenix. The project will include three buildings on 30 acres suited for warehouse and light manufacturing use.
4. A groundbreaking ceremony was held this week for the 12KSF DraftKings Sportsbook located across from TPC Scottsdale and adjacent to TPC Champions. The gaming and dining facility is expected to open in fall 2023.
Progress Reports
5. Work on Cannon Beach – a 37-acre mixed-use surf and water park in Mesa – continues to progress toward a fall 2023 opening. Owner Cole Cannon has said he plans additional developments in mind and has offers pending on sites in Scottsdale and Glendale.
Completions
6. Continental Properties has announced the opening of the 276-unit Springs at Eastmark multifamily community on East Warner Road in Mesa. The complex includes resort-style amenities, including a 24-hour fitness center, car care area and off-leash dog park.
7. The University of Arizona hosted a grand opening this week for The Mission Integration Lab in the UA Tech Park at The Bridges. The new building will accommodate balloon-borne astronomy, and comprises a tall, hangar-like “high bay,” where researchers and students can work on instruments, telescopes and high-altitude balloon technology.
8. The conversion of the former City Hall space into a new 47KSF Tolleson Civic Center is complete. A grand opening was held this week. The new building features municipal offices, Council chambers, a library and public and administrative uses. Originally planned to open in July, supply chain and materials issues delayed the project for several months.
9. The $19.9M Kiva Elementary School rebuild project has finished construction. The expansion and renovation project was undertaken as part of a voter-approved 2016 bond measure that also included work at four other Scottsdale Unified School District facilities.
10. Following a seven-month, $8.5M renovation and improvement project, Terravita Golf & Club has reopened in north Scottsdale.
