    Awards & Accolades

    1. The City of Scottsdale’s Rawhide Wash Flood Hazard Mitigation Project earned a 2026 American Public Works Association Public Works Project of the Year award for its regional approach to flood mitigation. The effort, completed by Scottsdale’s Stormwater Management team in partnership with the Maricopa County Flood Control District and the City of Phoenix, improved 1.6 miles of Rawhide Wash, eliminating the FEMA floodplain designation for hundreds of Scottsdale properties. The work also used sustainable construction practices to protect the surrounding desert habitat.

    Groundbreakings

    2. Phase II of Formation Park 10, a 261.2KSF industrial development at Bullard Avenue and Celebrate Life Way in Goodyear, is now underway. Formation Interests, an affiliate of Crescent Real Estate LLC, broke ground on the three-building expansion, which will bring the business park to nearly 689KSF across five buildings on 44 acres. Deutsch Architecture Group is the architect, sharing design and planning duties with Kimley Horn & Associates, Inc. and RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture. Willmeng Construction is the general contractor, and CBRE is overseeing leasing. Completion is expected in spring 2027.

    3. Arizona Boardwalk broke ground on the Arizona Boardwalk Hyatt Place at Talking Stick, a four-story, 142-room hotel next to the entertainment destination in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. Layton Construction is the general contractor for the project, and Deutsch Architecture Group designed it. The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2027.

    4. A.T. Craft broke ground on The Collective on Ocotillo, a $20.1M, 48KSF Class A medical office condominium development at the SEC of Ocotillo Road and 226th Street in Queen Creek. The four-building project will include buildings ranging from approximately 9.6KSF to 18KSF and a 5:1,000 parking ratio. Edifice Architecture is the architect; A.T. Meridian is the general contractor, and Kidder Mathews is handling sales and leasing. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2027. Multiple suites already have purchase agreements in place.

    5. Construction is underway on Lake Havasu City Fire Station No. 7 at McCulloch Blvd. South and Sloop Drive. The approximately 12KSF station, designed by Perlman Architects and built by Willmeng Construction, will house up to six firefighters and six firefighting or medical apparatus.

    Progress Reports

    6. Demolition is underway at the former Food City site at Dorsey Lane and Apache Blvd. in Tempe to make way for Dorsey Station, a mixed-use affordable housing development. The City purchased the property for $10.7M in 2021 and plans to build more than 400 apartments, including affordable, senior and market-rate units, along with a 10KSF grocery store. The project is expected to open in 2029.

    7. Northbound State Route 51 is reduced to two lanes between Highland Avenue and Camelback Road as crews replace approximately 700 ft of damaged pavement and repair the freeway’s drainage system. The work is part of the Arizona Department of Transportation‘s SR 51 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, a 9.5-mile pavement rehabilitation effort between Interstate 10 and Shea Blvd., that began in March. The project is approximately 50% complete and is expected to continue into the fall.

    Completions

    8. Nexus Commerce Center is complete in Tempe’s I-10 industrial corridor. The 273KSF development includes three Class A industrial buildings with 32-ft clear heights built on the site of a former office building. LGE Design Build designed and built the project.

    9. Alma Farrell Innovation Academy opened July 20 at 17541 N. Sorrento Blvd. in Maricopa as Arizona’s first K-8 work-based learning school. The nearly 100KSF campus, which broke ground in May 2025, welcomed students July 27.

    10. EōS Fitness opened a 60KSF fitness center at 2100 N. Dobson Road in Chandler on July 21. The facility is the company’s fourth location in Chandler and 45th in Arizona.

    11. Elite Garages Scottsdale is open at 16990 N. 91st St. The development features 32 privately owned garage condominium suites. The customizable suites include approximately 22-foot clear ceiling heights and a shared clubhouse.
