The 902-acre Innovation Corridor portion of the more than 6,350-acre NorthPark master plan site in north Phoenix could become home to a major expansion of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation’s operations and facilities.
TSMC entered into a partnership with NorthPark master developer PulteGroup for the Innovation Corridor earlier this year. The company has confirmed to local news outlet Valley Vibe it wants to obtain more land so it can build three additional chip fabrication facilities, two advanced packaging facilities and a research and development center.
AZBEX reported similar plans by the company in the May 17, 2022 subscriber-only issue of the magazine. The new article cites TSMC representatives and plans produced by the company in Feb. 2021.
TSMC’s total Arizona investment was previously announced at $165B.
The NorthPark site is currently owned by the Arizona State Land Department, which has set a Jan. 7 auction date and a minimum bid of $197.25M.
Company officials did not comment on specific designs for the Innovation Corridor parcel but confirmed there is insufficient space to expand on its current north Phoenix site.
Considerations for a new site, they said, include proximity to the existing campus and utilities infrastructure access.
