Roers Companies has requested a conditional use permit to allow development of a 300-unit affordable housing multifamily community near the SEC of Idaho Road and the alignment for Scenic Street.
The 14-gross-acre Roers 88 North is part of a larger area owned by Bela Flor Communities. Bela Flor is planning its own 210-unit development, 88 North, south of the Roers site. Representatives of Bela Flor spoke in favor of Roers’ planned development at the Oct. 28 Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
Roers plans to use Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to develop the property. Future residents are people earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income.
The community will consist of 14 buildings of three stories each. The unit mix will be comprised of 48 one-, 132 two-, 84 three- and 36 four-bedroom apartments, according to the submitted site plan. Plans also include a single-story office/clubhouse, a small maintenance building and community open space, according to project documents and a local news report.
In its Oct. 28 meeting, the Commission recommended the request to the City Council for approval.
Roers Companies is the project owner. The design firm is Todd & Associates Architecture. iPlan Consulting is the project representative.
