Groundbreakings

1. Groundwork has begun on BNSF Railway’s proposed Logistics Park Phoenix rail hub site in Wittmann near 235th Avenue and U.S. 60. Initial work includes grading approximately 350 acres and constructing additional track as the first phase of the company’s planned intermodal facility. The larger project, valued at $3.2B, is designed to integrate an intermodal facility, logistics park and logistics center to expand freight capacity in Arizona. The site is part of a 4,300-acre property BNSF owns in the area.
2. The NRP Group has begun construction on a 353-unit multifamily community in the Medina Station master-planned development. The community will be located at 10941 E. Southern Ave. in Mesa. The four-story apartment project will occupy roughly 10 acres in the 60-acre mixed-use site, which is planned to include approximately 300KSF of retail space. Origin Investments is financing the development, which is scheduled for completion in 2028.
3. Site work is underway on a new 24KSF clubhouse and event facility at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa. The project, valued at more than $20M, is being developed by the Ak-Chin Indian Community, with PIMMEX-CHASSE serving as the general contractor and Meyers + Associates Architecture as the design firm. Troon Design and Development is assisting the community’s Capital Projects team with project management. The project will expand the clubhouse and dining facilities and add a new event space. Vertical construction is expected to begin in March, and completion is scheduled for spring 2027.
4. Construction began in February on a 35KSF Center Court Pickleball Club facility at Scottsdale Fiesta Retail Center at 10220 N. 90th St. in Scottsdale. The indoor club is being developed by Center Court Pickleball Club. Clune Construction is serving as the general contractor, and Corgan as the architect. Cresa’s Project Management Division is overseeing construction. The facility will include 13 pickleball courts and will also serve as the company’s headquarters and training center. The project is expected to open this summer.
5. Northland Pioneer College has broken ground on the relocation and expansion of its Kayenta Center. The project will consist of a two-building academic complex in Kayenta’s new industrial park near Highway 160 and is expected to be completed by May 2027. CORE Construction is serving as the general contractor, with SPS+ Architects as the design firm. Jones and DeMille Engineering is providing engineering services.
6. Construction is underway on the Route 66 Electric Vehicle and Energy Centerat 519 E. Beale St. in downtown Kingman. The project is being developed by the Historic Electric Vehicle Foundation, which purchased the building from the City of Kingman in 2025. The renovated facility will house an interactive museum featuring more than 130 electric vehicles ranging from the late 1800s to present day, along with STEM labs. The project will open in phases, with a partial opening planned in early May.
7. A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the P.W. Litchfield Heritage Center, a planned museum at the 20-acre La Loma Homestead in Litchfield Park. The project will restore the historic Litchfield/Denny House and convert it into a regional museum. The Heritage Center will anchor a broader cultural campus planned for the hilltop that includes a performing arts center and library. First-phase improvements are scheduled for completion by August.
8. Construction is underway on the Turkey Creek Trail System on National Forest land near Sedona. The project is led by the U.S. Forest Service with support from the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund and community partners. Once completed, the system will include approximately 35 miles of interconnected non-motorized trails for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians, along with a new trailhead with parking. The project is expected to exceed $1.3M and will be built in phases over the next several years.
Progress Reports

9. Shelter Asset Management LLC has opened the first two buildings of Home at Maricopa, a $175M apartment community at 17645 N. Porter Road in Maricopa. The project will total 531 units across six buildings once completed. SAM Development Group LLC is serving as the general contractor. The development is being delivered in five phases and is expected to be fully completed in the second quarter of 2028.
10. Richmond American Homes of Arizona Inc., a subsidiary of Sekisui House U.S. Inc., has announced the grand opening of Fusion at Blossom Rock, a new two-story home collection in the Blossom Rock master-planned community in Apache Junction. The neighborhood features four floor plans, with homes ranging from approximately 2.1KSF to 2.5KSF and three-to-four bedrooms.
11. Achen-Gardner Construction placed more than 8KSF of eight-foot-wide sidewalk as part of its Brookfield Transportation Job Order Contract for Brookfield Residential in the Blossom Rock neighborhood near Apache Junction. The work supports the next phase of development and follows earlier grading and utility installation to prepare sites for future home construction.
Completions
12. The new AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town is set to open Feb. 26 at 7110 E. Indian School Road. The six-story, 168-room Marriott-branded hotel is part of a mixed-use redevelopment replacing a former Howard Johnson motel and event center. The project includes two six-story buildings anchored by the hotel and a 176-unit residential building, along with restaurant and retail space. The development also incorporates the historic Kimsey Building into the project.
13. Sierra on 66, a 221-unit affordable housing community, has opened on a 10.5-acre site along Route 66 in Flagstaff. Roers Companies developed, owns and manages the community. The project offers one-, two- and three-bedroom units for households earning up to 60% of the Area Median Income.
14. SOLON Corporation and Onyx Renewables have completed four solar photovoltaic projects for the City of Mesa Electric Utility. The projects add 2.9MW of solar capacity and expand the partners’ municipal solar portfolio for the City to 3.7MW. SOLON Corporation provided engineering, procurement and construction services, and Onyx Renewables financed the systems and will serve as the long-term owner and operator. The installations also provide more than 600 parking spaces.

15. EōS Fitness has opened its first Casa Grande location at 1214 E. Florence Blvd. The 39.1KSF facility marks the company’s 42nd gym in Arizona.
16. The Arizona Department of Transportation has completed a $1.8M project to improve traffic flow at and near the Loop 303 and US 60 interchange in Surprise. The work added turn lanes from east- and westbound US 60 to 163rd Avenue, widened the southbound Loop 303 on-ramp from Grand Avenue and expanded the southbound Loop 303 off-ramp with a third left-turn lane. Construction began in September.
